I absolutely detest the kind of person you responded to, because they see something *they* do not use and have the audacity to go "why do I need this?"

if you don't then move on.

and yes, anyone in dire need, namely for work purposes, this particular function would essentially have to abandon iOS and iPadOS entirely.

it's already bad enough that Spotify axed their API for this purpose so now I have to retain multiple streaming services.
So, for what do you need this?

Wait. Does the API adjust playback speed or tempo? I am no studio tech, but my understanding is that those are not synonyms.
Haha, I happen to be a studio tech, but I'm not really sure what you asking. Speed and tempo increase means the same thing in my world, although you would normally just refer to it as tempo. :)

Are you maybe thinking of pitch? Speed increase here, I'm assuming, also mean that the pitch is increased. I have a hard time imagining they time stretch, where a pitch increase does not happen.

Nice of Apple to return the API used by 3rd party Apple Music players.

Good move by Apple to put it back. I'm very surprised they are backtracking on this decision.

This is pretty off for management of an API. You don't delete or diminish API calls without years of notice. The team is suppose to first document these calls as "deprecated". Then the API roadmap is supposed to provide ample advance warning of when a call is to be removed. There should have been plenty of time for developers to provide feedback. Often the timetable gets extended based on developer feedback, often indefinitely. But I've never heard of a reversal like this once the removal has happened.

This would be lovely but unfortunately there is no access to raw audio data from Apple Music content for mixing, looping or effects. I‘m not aware of a single DJ app that allows you to use it, the same goes for visualization apps.

This is the real problem, please Apple give us developers the same access to Apple Music content as we have with mp3 files directly imported to the device.
Not. Going. To. Happen.

Lol come on, they can't even get the basics right, you are delirious.

As a musician I the app "ASD" (automatic slow downer). I use it to easily loop and slow down parts of a song to learn complicated parts.

It has been unable to do this with Apple Music, forcing me to use Spotify.

I am very happy about this!!

ummm, does Macrumors understand what an API is? There’s no “adjust tempo” API. There is Apple Music API, or Musickit API, so they didn’t “remove an API..” lol. They might of modified a function within the API but they didn’t remove an API, I don’t know where they got this as none of the cited links say an API was removed lol.

Well, what I hate about modern "web journalism", specially tech related, is that someone comes up with a news and everybody else just copies. 90% of Mac Rumors content can be found at 9to5Mac, for example. And 90% of 9to5Mac can be found on Mac Rumors...
Why am I saying that? Because they also posted about the same topic and they too refer to an API...

As others have said, Perfect Tempo and Amazing Slow Downer both used this feature to help people learn how to play music, usually guitar. I paid for both and both suddenly stopped working due to apples sudden removal. As others have also said - that's a dick move in an api, normal practise is depreciation of methods with plenty of notice.

Good news it's coming back for me.

I would rather have the old way back. At least you didn't have to use the back arrow all the time. They also need a better way to use look at your local music and the store music at the same time.

Yeah, I agree with you.

Predictive search its the way to go in my opinion, but its currently half baked. On Spotify, when you type, artists photos and albums names start to appear instantly. On AM, its... clunky and slow, to say the least.

As for the integration between locally ripped music, Apple Music catalog and the Itunes Store catalog... yeah, its need to be seamless, more clear and intuitive

Does anyone know how far out Apple usually sends out the betas for something like IOS 16? Is it thd day they anmounce it or way before that?
