This update is just not available to me on my iPad. I've been on the beta profile for a month. I'm on the previous iPadOS 16.1 beta. I've rebooted twice now. It still says I'm up to date.

I've never seen this happen before. Anyone else?

This is a developer beta. Are you on a developer beta profile?

I wasn't overly bothered by it being left out before, but it is nice to have the option there now.
haha same, I was just tired of feeling left out

This seems to be the update that introduces Matter support / the new HomeKit architecture? Can anyone confirm whether there is an upgrade prompt visible in the Home app?

A poster in the 16.0 thread got that notice this morning before the update was available.

Sporadically, the Home app in iPadOS 16.1 is offering to upgrade the underlying HomeKit architecture in Home Settings > Software Update

Tapping ‘Learn More’ pops a new splash screen with further details:

Tapping Continue:

I only have one HomePod mini and it’s fully updated with the HomePod Beta Updates toggled both on and off so it seems Apple haven’t pushed the necessary HomePod beta update yet and the update prompt was pushed prematurely.

Idk why it would make a difference, I find updating new device without restoring backup (connecting to wi-fi and setting up as simplistically as possible), wiping, and then restoring backup (a backup of a device, optimally, also on latest beta) to be sufficient whenever I get a new device. No iTunes required for me; I always go over-the-air without so much as a hitch :) but your mileage may vary.
I do it all from the cloud as well, but I always found it to be a pain to have to sign in fully just to throw the beta profile on, reset it, restore it again, and then have to throw the beta profile back on.

Oh, haha, I don’t have that little problem since I don’t get my profiles from an ‘official’ source.. 🕵️‍♀️

Is the wobbling music player on the lock screen fixed when tapping on song cover to maximize or minimize it?

Anyone found a merchant that actually is integrated into the packages thingy? Curious to see that in action.

For me swiping right or left to the App Library does not get rid of Home Screen and Home Screen overlays.

It seems like they changed that process a bit. I upgraded a few weeks ago from a 12 (running the beta) to a 13 and before restoring from my previous update, I was prompted to install the beta on the 13. I didnt have to reset the new phone and everything went on like a normal restore.

Works fine for me 13 p max
I usually wait for a few hours before I force restart to kill any background processes after an update so will have to see if that fixes it. Or it could be a feature for the 13 Pro exclusively. Cuz it happens every time for me.

Have to see if anyone with a 13 Pro has better luck.
