AirDrop only have three choices: Receiving Off, Contacts Only and Everyone.

It'd be MUCH better if there's a fourth choice: iPhone/iPad name ID.

For example, AirDrop on my iPhone 13 PM that could locate my iPhone 12 Pro and drop off a pic or a clip without using Everyone.

Still no word on that Savings Account feature in Wallet eh?

So strange that it was in the release notes for 16.1, turned out to *not* be there, and Apple has been silent on it ever since.
MR had an article Dec. 2nd saying “Goldman Sachs updated their customer agreement on the upcoming savings feature”, it will probably be soon.

If not Public release of 16.2, I’d say around New Years with the following update…?

👊😬👍

Has anyone running the Public Beta of 16.2 found a way to enroll or download a beta of the HomePod 16.2 software for original HomePods? We have both HomePod Minis and original HomePods and the latter are not updating and I am not being allowed to upgrade our Home.

I really wish there was a setting that made the AOD work as its name says (i.e. it remains on all the time). Rather than deciding after a period of time to make the display go blank. Why the hell do I want the display to go blank after a period of time if I have enabled AOD 🙄

Apple makes the reason/excuse amongst other things of "If you haven't used your iPhone for a while".
Also in my experience, when AOD makes the screen go blank, it does not learn from my use patterns and does not turn the screen on or off accordingly. In my experience it just makes it go blank, and it remains like that until I touch the screen.

Hopefully, it fixes the battery drain I have with the latest version. since I upgraded over a month ago, my phone drains in half the time it used to with the last iOS 15. It is something with iCloud as when I logout from iCloud it improves somewhat but overall is still worst than iOS 15. I would go back to the last version if I could.

If this is true, we should be getting GM releases by tomorrow.
I believe this is the final version before it is out to the public next week. Possibly by Monday or Tuesday.

Is iOS 16.2 one of the biggest point updates ever? This is a seriously impressive amount of stuff covering a wide range of topics from entertainment to security to overhauling the HomeKit architecture.

I like that Apple didn't pre-announce some of these things. I think going forward they should keep most of this stuff under wraps and then release it when it's ready. It's nice to be surprised and not wondering why X feature that was promised in June has taken until the following May to ship.

What happens if my Bluetooth wireless connection* is slow and it takes longer than 10 minutes to AirDrop something to another device? Will it start all over :(
i thought Contacts Only is available for ever, only "Every One" will be disabled after 10 mins, am i wrong ?

If there is no way to remove the news from the Apple weather app, guess it’s time to look for a new weather app.
Agree, there are some people who complain that iOS is same as version 15 so Apple keeps adding so many features that most people don't need.
Apple is going (OS) in wrong direction on all platforms iPhone, iPad, MacOS.
They are adding lot of stuff, lot of people don't care about most of the stuff.

New features don't excite me. Bug fixes is what I care about.

How about another Leopard --> Snow Leopard type of update. Gimme the same, but sleaker, less buggy. Unleash Wozniak's Roughnecks on those bugs.

"Come on you apes, do you want to live forever?"
People don't want an OS that has few useful features that are stable, they need a new feature with every point release.
we are all addicted to Social Media, just like how social media needs new sensational news every hour, if they can't find one they will create it.

If I update the Home to the new architecture so I have to do the same on my TV4k cause it’s the hub for my network

Most of it sounds really good.

>> The built-in Weather app now features an Apple News section. <<

I'd much rather have a few more days of glance temperature weather forecasts at the top than an Apple News ad.

Please let us turn this off (becoming more like Android / Samsungware where users are constantly being pushed into other services is not a good thing). Sadly, in a timing coincidence, Dark Sky gets turned off in a couple of weeks I believe.

I don't think I'm a fan of the weather app. They made it more detailed in terms of numbers, but I miss the text, saying like expect rain the next few days. I might look for a new weather app.

Still disliked the iOS 16 notification on the bottom of the screen.
Feels like a change for the sake of change.
It's not - it improves usability and reachability, and is exactly something that Steve Jobs would have championed. I'm actually amazed that no smartphone OS has done this before (as far as I know).

And a fix for the Hebrew keyboard that put million of users in a months of hell!

(Some genius at apple replaced third of of the space key with a symbol key, but only sometimes, which causes tons of unrelated symbols being accidentally sent by hebrew iPhone users... iOS 16.2 allows disabling this button)

The beautiful thing here is that you can develop & install your own keyboard. :). Why wait for  to fix the bug when the power of the universe is in your hands?

Funny I’m the opposite. I prefer just the numbers and less text. Maybe we can get one weather app with a few skins or detail level toggle switches. I really don’t like the maps. i don’t find the coloring as good as most of the others.

Hah! I didn’t understand what you meant above until recently when I kept scrolling down to older posts and discover that the RCs were already released earlier today!
What a nice surprise! Installing them now.

Weather news in a weather app are okay, but I very much hate it, if I get exposed to news at places where I do not want them. It would freak me out to get political news in a weather app, as I avoid those news wherever possible. Most news are bad news. Some disaster happened, a war stared, people where killed, taxes get raised, energy gets more expensive, the recipe for Nutella has changed or stuff like that. In addition to that there are those annoying celebrity "news". Who gives a f**k what celebrities do in their private lives?

Take yahoo.com for example. You just go there for search or to check your email, but the home page is full of news. Why does Yahoo assume that people want to see that? Please Yahoo, replace those news with good looking women in bikinis or cute animals! Those news are the main reason why I do not use Yahoo any more. Some browsers even out news on a "blank" page, when you open a new tab. What part of "blank" did they not understand? Sometimes you can hide those news in the settings, but they should not be there in the first place.

I believe Bluetooth is only used for the initial handshake otherwise it is Wi-Fi Direct between the two devices.
