yea for me 16.4 is horrible with lots of odd issues.... so here is to hoping.
Apple Mail is broken, apparently since 16.4.

If you compose an email and attach PDF with more than one page, or a .Zip file, then save it as a draft, then try to open it on your iPad or iPhone, the attachments will not appear. Only one-page PDFs will appear. But you will notice there's an additional space in the message where the attachment icons are supposed to be. It's as if the icons are there, but invisible. This error didn't exist in iOS 16.1. Tested it on about 18 devices for 5 different user accounts.
I called Apple Support, and they just tried to distract me asking me non-sense questions read from a script. Even the escalation technicians did the same. They wanted me to Reset my iPad and restore it from backup (a time consuming task, as I have an App that will require me to manually re-download every piece of media that it uses).
I offered them to test it on a brand new iPhone 11 Pro, clean installation, but she said I needed to do it on the iPad because that's how the task was open. I had already spent about 4 hours with them, so I got tired of them.

why?
The changes between 16.2 and 16.5 have mostly been related to security so… Really in the end you’re only possibly hurting yourself…
I get not updating to new major new releases, but… boycotting bug fixes, that’s a new one.
iOS 9 on iPhone 4s and UI changes introduced in iOS 14 [app library and widgets on home screen] made me decide to selectively perform upgrade... My iPhone 7 Plus is still on iOS 15.6 RC even though iOS 15.7.5 is already available...

Newer versions have security fixes, however I still prefer running Windows 7 and macOS Catalina than the newer versions, Windows 10/11 and Big Sur/Monterey [Ventura not officially available for MacBook Pro 2015]

Not to mention the Smart Folders are just TERRIBLE. A Smart Folder set to show only Unread Email, regardless of one folder or all folders or whatever, has ALWAYS been wrong for me. It's bad enough that the Mail app dumps you right into another Unread Email if you're currently looking at one and then delete it. But, from a Privacy Standpoint, if they're going to just show you another email without wanting to, they could at least get the Unread Folder count to be accurate.

Apple will likely release iOS 16.5 to the public next week, based on a protected Twitter account that has shared build numbers for several iOS updates up to a week before they were released. In a tweet today, the account said the upcoming iOS 16.5 Release Candidate for developers will have a build number of 20F65.
Too often these news and discussion articles are only titled with just iOS mentoned instead of pointing out that if it wraps up with iOS 16.5 that means they all go public next week.

An extremely important feature of this new update is that it fixes a very bad and prevalent problem connecting to CarPlay. The previous update broke CarPlay connections to many automobiles, rendering the screen, blank, and/or frequently disconnecting. This update fixes that and if you need CarPlay to work immediately, download the beta—it does the trick.

Having quite many issues on iOS 16.4.

WebKit crashes more often than ever before. It started crashing in iOS 16 I think. I've never seen it crash like this before.

Let's hope 16.5 fixes things...

Anyone’s system services constantly using location all day? That is draining battery.

Sports in this update is a waste of space and will only confirm the pointless things apple developers believe we want

... will only confirm the pointless things apple developers believe we want

The developers are just cranking out what they're told to crank out. What Apple thinks you want comes from market research teams led by upper management.

Really hoping the battery life has been improved. My iPhone 14 Pro Max is struggling to hit even 6 hours from 0-100%.
Something is going on with your phone unrelated to the current version of iOS. I would check in the battery section and see what’s using so much. If you can’t figure it out, then perhaps erase and restart your phone as new. Make sure to have all your stuff backed up of course.

I have the 14 Pro Max and I can’t kill the battery in one day. I don’t play a lot of games, so maybe that would be able to do it, but I watch videos, browse the web, go on Facebook, Twitter, TikTok etc.

Edited for misspelling due to voice to text

That makes absolutely no sense.
The iPhone 4s started on iOS 5, and ended up on iOS 9. That is a massive gap compared to 16.2 versus 16.5.

Also, both Big Sur and Monterey are still receiving security updates.

I should have made it clearer... The poor performance of iPhone 4s with iOS 9 installed and the visual/UI changes introduced in iOS 14 that for me made it worse [widgets on home screen and app library]

As I said, poor performance and unnecessary visual/UI changes made me favor/like the older versions compared to the new ones... I understand that newer versions are more secure but should I upgrade to the newer version while sacrificing performance?

If you are asking me to upgrade to a newer device, are you going to purchase the device on my behalf and give it to me for free? If not, then I don't want to hear it...

EDIT: I saw this on a certain website that sells pre-owned devices

After updating to iOS 16.4.1, no history of repair, yet, an important camera message showed up, although it does not affect picture taking or video recording capability...

I hope the battery life can be improved. I’m using an iPhone 13 mini, and every increasing minute of battery life matters.
