Apple has trained everyone well, just stick security in the release notes and everyone immediately installs the patch no matter what the quality. In recent times, Apple’s releases have degraded to match the quality of Windows releases. Next thing Apple will start patch Tuesday.

FROM THIS POINT FORWARD WE SHOULD SEE LESS OS UPDATES.

I NEED A REST FROM DOWNLOADING 12GB macOS UPDATE.

Sonoma forward.

If you have a 2019 iMac, prepare to get "stuck" several times, then randomly boot into Recovery Mode, then physically need to Shut Down, then physically restart, then "stuck" several more times before the update continues through how it usually does. This is one of the last Intel Mac's without T2 (maybe the last?) and believe that might be the "issue" here. Zero issues with MBP16,1 with Intel & T2.

They often forget or don't know that certain words should be hyphenated. In this case, it should be "Actively-Exploited". Those two words are a compound adjective and precede the noun "Vulnerabilities"
Au contraire, mon amí!

When the first word is an adverb ending in -ly, you are supposed to drop the hyphen!

“Hyphens are often used when a compound modifies a noun (“sun-bleached curtains,” “fire-roasted tomatoes”) but not when -ly adverbs are used (“lightly salted peanuts”).”

See, e.g., https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/hyphen-rules-open-closed-compound-words

and

“Also pay special attention to compounds formed with an adverb ending in ‑ly followed by a past participle, present participle, or other adjective. Thesecompounds are never hyphenated:

widely used procedure (-ly adverb + past participle) publicly traded stock (-ly adverb + past participle) rapidly increasing revenues (-ly adverb + presentparticiple) privately held corporation (-ly adverb + past participle) newly richnation (-ly adverb + adjective)”

Hence, the headline is 100% correct! 💯 ✅ ‼️

Just updated same machine here. Didn't need to go into recovery mode, but machine did reboot itself several times, and appeared to hang a few times but got through it.

So not the smoothest update but it did work.

The title is correct, with one exception.

iOS 16.6, macOS Ventura 13.5, and Other Updates Patch Actively Exploited Vulnerabilities

The verb is "Patch" in this case. I'm guessing English was not a prerequisite for getting a job as a writer. They often forget or don't know that certain words should be hyphenated. In this case, it should be "Actively-Exploited". Those two words are a compound adjective and precede the noun "Vulnerabilities".
Rubbish. No hyphen required when the adverb ends in -ly.

No capital letters required for the words in your quotation marks.

“You” missing before “getting” in your second sentence.

Commas recommended after “forget” and “know”.

Apart from that, your grammar’s great…

Is Apple’s software getting sloppy, or are they being more transparent? It seems in the past few years we can’t go a month without getting three software updates that fix "major bugs affecting security."

No, I’m not complaining; I'm just curious.

Seems like Apple is much more on top of security updates these days. Now it almost seems like we get them day after day… 😅

Successfully installed on a 14 (was ~750mb download). Phones and browsers are the big targets and we'll keep having patches as long as the bad guys can figure out new ways to go after them, so keep the updates coming Apple.

You're wrong.

Last update for High Sierra was in November 2020 and Big Sur was released the same month... Will Big Sur get additional updates until Sonoma is released or is this the final update?

The iOS 16.6, iPadOS 16.6, macOS Ventura 13.5, watchOS 9.6, and tvOS 16.6 updates that Apple released today address a long list of security vulnerabilities, including two that Apple says may have been actively exploited.

iOS-16.6-Feature.jpg

Apple today also released iOS 15.7.8, iPadOS 15.7.8, macOS Monterey 12.6.8, and macOS Big Sur 11.7.9 for devices that are not able to run the current release versions of the Mac, iPhone, and iPad software. These updates contain the same security improvements.

There are several fixes for kernel vulnerabilities, including one that could allow an app to modify a sensitive kernel state. This is the vulnerability that Apple says may have been actively exploited, but Apple's wording indicates that it only received reports of active exploits against versions of iOS that were released before iOS 15.7.1. It is, however, patched on all platforms.

The updates also fix a WebKit vulnerability that Apple says could have been actively exploited, but Apple first addressed this issue with the iOS 16.5.1 (c) and macOS Ventura 13.4.1 (c) Rapid Security Responses, so some iPhone, iPad, and Mac users may have already had protection from this issue.

Because these new software releases include so many security fixes, it is a good idea to install them as soon as possible. A full list of the patches that Apple has implemented can be found on Apple's security support website.

Sadly HomePod OS still has the autoplay feature bug. It doesn’t work when an album ends. Furthermore there are still moments when music stops for a few seconds and/or songs end before they should.

It's been mostly a year since Apple released the disastrous HomePod OS 16 and they still haven’t fix all the terrible issues they introduced. I should have stick with OS 15…

Has macOS Monterey 12.6.8 been revoked? Download doesn't start on two Macs, Intel & Apple Silicon.
Disregard the above, it was probably just a local CDN issue, fixed now.
