“Majority” isn’t good enough for everyone. Does iOS 14 still hold even 2% market share?

If I look at the chart above, it shows a whopping 10% of users still using iOS 14 or below! I would (hypothetically) need to know that I’m losing that much user base before I drop iOS 14 support for an app.
Exactly this. It seems some people just look at it purely from their own point of view rather than more broadly. Amusingly, I was down voted for suggesting this is a useful stat for devs with zero explanation 🤣

During iOS 15 WWDC, Apple openly announced that they would still maintain iOS 14. And the fact that Apple didn't push iOS 15 hard in the beginning, obviously uptake was slower. Didn't help with the bugs aplenty.

If Apple would keep iOS 15 updated for dropped devices (iphone 6s and 7), I'll be happy. :) That gives me more time to think about upgrading my 7 Plus.

One of the most pointless stats and thing to track. Assuming majority iPhone users have automatic updates turned on. What’s the point of this stat?
That alone doesn't explain the rate of adoption when compared to iOS15 though, right?

Also, these seems like very valuable info for devs that want to know what they should be doing to make their apps stand out. No sense putting money and resources into a new iOS feature if it's not getting adopted at an acceptable rate. The more data you track about damn near anything, the better you can attempt to understand trends and why things happen the way they do.

The data from Mixpanel suggests that 78.41 percent of people are continuing to run iOS 15, and nearly 10 percent have an older version of iOS.
How many if those are simply people with older phones who are not supported by iOS16? I'm sure there are plenty of people with iPhone 7 and 7+.

Quite impressive numbers. I installed it like half hour after it came out, and my 11's battery life and general speed is just the same as 15.1 (last version I installed)

I wonder how many people opted for iOS 15.7? I was initially surprised when I went to upgrade from 15.6.1 a little after 1:00 PM ET on Monday and saw 15.7. Took me a second or two to notice the ‘Upgrade to iOS 16’ banner a little further down on the screen.

Just upgraded to iOS 15.7.
Unfortunately, it appears iOS 16 is only available for updating on the iPhone and not via Windows iTunes anymore, which is much faster in downloading via wired ethernet connection.
Will wait awhile to see how many updates of iOS Apple will release and what effects it'll have before updating.

My carrier wants to pay me in store $1000 for my iPhone 11 Pro Max on Friday. If that happens I will have to be a beta iOS 16 user for the next year. Normally I would wait until next year to install iOS 16 when iOS 17 is announced. o_O

Bro you going to cause your parents more unnecessary stress. Why couldn’t you at least wait until 16.1. They should be able to relax with their phone.
They'd still be on iOS 9 if I didn't backhandedly force them to keep their hardware and software updated. It has to happen sometime, might as well be now than have their bank accounts hacked in 6 months because they don't charge their phones at night.

I’d update if I could but the software update page still says I’m up to date at 15.7 on my 13 mini

I'm actually holding off and waiting until my new 14 Pro Max comes Friday...I want to experience my shiny new hardware and shiny new software all at once. First time I've done this and it's taking more willpower than I thought.
