As a long-time Dvorak typist, of course I configured to have this new bangle 🍸😹 Obviously the people who complain about not having the same keyboard in both places ... well, let's just say it's ok. It will take some time to get used to this new thumb typing, as i know the physical keyboard by touch and not by sight. But it does seem better organized for swipe-typing. At the moment, though, slow going. Thank goodness for dictation!!🍸😸

I can't for the life of me believe that Apple still won't add a darn additional row of numbers above the top row of alpha characters (you know, like EVERY normal keyboard has). I use numbers ALL THE TIME and switching back and forth is just brutal. I could maybe forgive this design choice back in the days of tiny screens on ipods etc., but forever now the screens have been much bigger and there's simply no excuse (in my opinion) to allow billions of users to suffer every day like this. Even if some 3rd party came up with a keyboard like I want then I likely still wouldn't use it because I hear they collect key strokes for data mining, so I only trust Apple's keyboard. This is such a simple thing to do - again I'm just supremely disappointed with Apple's keyboard.

I'd just like to be able to throw the number row above the querty row (like Android) without some hack.
You can do this with Swiftkey, presuming you don't consider installing a third party keyboard a hack.

Well, if you already had it I suppose. But Microsoft recently pulled it from the App Store.

Hmm, my sense memory still can't get used the nav bar being at the bottom of safari/search. A whole new keyboard? I'd need to live another century to adjust to that.
Ha. I've been forcing myself to adjust to the nav bar at the bottom as well - makes sense from a usability/reachability standpoint. I'm getting there, slowly. 🤪

But a new keyboard layout? While I get the concept, it seems much more daunting than adjusting to the position of a nav bar. At this point, I can't see myself moving to Dvorak. But for those who want it, I'm glad they have that option.

They add a new keyboard but break the original keyboard in the app store when writing reviews. You can only see/use the left side of the keyboar.

I’ll have to give it a try. I’ll most likely go back to QWERTY, but just like with new foods, the latest technology and that person you’re interested in at the bar, it can be very beneficial to your quality of life to be inquisitive about new ways of functioning day to day. I don’t know if Dvorak applies here, but until you try it you don’t know.

I’m trying to write with it. Thanks to the predictions, it took only 4 times of time I would have taken with QWERTY.

I'll try this out for a week and see how it goes. I've been making a lot of typos lately, so I guess this will force me to be more careful.
Typos are mostly probably caused by Apple designing the touch points and key design wrong. I don't know if you ever tried a Windows Phone, now or before, but they were designed differently resulting in greater accuracy without the need for auto-correct. BTW, Apple's auto-correct is ***** also, and is in need of much work.
