I've been on beta since WWDC and using the medication tracking since I coincidentally started a new prescription a couple weeks prior. It worked very well. Of my three medications, one was supplemental magnesium glycinate, and Health didn't recognize it.

I currently use the Medisafe app for medicine tracking & reminders. It works pretty much in the same way as these new features but I glad to have it integrated into the Health app.

I wonder if the sleep tracking will be any more accurate than the apps that are currently available.

Yes, and I am one of those older people who take a lot of medicines. But I take them at home, where my iPad is. I reiterate, this app should be on all devices.
I 100% agree. One thing they would have to figure out is the reminder notification to remove from all devices if someone clicked it on a single device. For example, someone who is having trouble remembering things they did, when they click they did take the medication on their phone or watch, it removes the notification from their iPad. This would help over-medicating accidents. I've seen this too many times. Another feature I am interested in is sharing medical information with someone. I wonder if it could share the medication reminder with someone that takes care of them.

I respect Apple's commitment to privacy - at least as far as public statements go - but there's just no way they are keeping a lif on all of this and other services without it being leaked to all those alphabet soup agencies.

I'm on BETA4 and I have no way of using the camera to take a picture, and my Health-app seems incapable of recognising anything. There is no database that I can query, all medications have to be added through a completely manual process.

Very disappointing. Especially when there is even an app which can read EU/UK GS1 datamatrix codes

I went to the Apple App Store, installed Merck Scan Now, and used it. It does ask some permissions such as location and to be allowed to use the camera (which is essential for it to work). Very easy to use.

I have not found an Android app yet. There are many which can read the code, but none (so far) manage to interpret the data further.

There is a webpage for Merck Scan Now: https://www.merckmillipore.com/GB/en/ScanNow

1. Yes.
2. Yes of course.
But there is often a solution or a workaround to many software problems, im just looking to see if someone has any advice or input as I haven’t been able to find one so far.
I have the same problem as you.
On Saturday I spent the entire day (well, until around 18:00) without my Apple Watch on my wrist, but I had the phone in my pocket, so I don't understand why no activity was being tracked in this period.

I wonder if there could be some region locking going on? What country are you in?

Im in US; doubt region locking is occurring. I can see if Apple hasn't yet thought it through, by allowing the phone to track activity when it recognizes that the watch isn't currently being worn. Knowing Apple, it will take them another 2 years to realize and implement something this basic. I think the problem I'm encountering is that I owned (briefly) a watch at one time; and so now, the Fitness app is waiting for activity from the watch failing to realize that hey maybe there is not watch anymore.

I don't like that Apple is building these things in. Apple should provide APIs for third party apps instead. Reason I say this is that Apple doesn't always provide the same depth of implementation as some third party apps in the sleep tracking. With iOS16 we are finally seeing Apple catch up a bit, but they are not nearly on par with third party apps even with iOS16.
I much prefer that it’s built into the phone. I would rather the information be kept private and only on my phone, like all the Health app info, rather than trusting a third party app developer to keep it confidential.

Even if Apple has a data breach, it wouldn’t affect the health info on my phone.

Since you started with all capitals, it didn't seem to me like you were just looking for advice or input. It seemed more of a critical short term issue. My bad for misinterpreting the all capitals.

I see your point. But, this would mean that all apps that deal with more or less sensitive things, are only created by two companies: Apple and Google. While I see your point, I think that there is more downside to this than upside.

I CANNOT GET FITNESS.APP TO SHOW ME JUST THE ONE (MOVE) RING, IT SHOWS ALL 3 AND DOESNT COUNT ANY ACTIVITY.

Sorry for the all-caps, it's just that I've asked a bunch of times before and havent gotten any response.
I had the AppleWatch and the Fitness+ service for a bit. I've disconnected the watch and removed it from my account, the fitness+ service is also expired/not active. But my Fitness+ app (which I've reinstalled a number of times since) shows me the three regular rings (as if I had a watch) and of course the rings are all empty because there is not watch to pull the info from. Tried doing a test workout with Nike Running Club, it shows up in Fitness as a workout, but I don't think I got any Move minutes or calories or anything from it. Anyone have any idea how to get this to work?
So I finally got this to work.
What did the trick for me was to turn off iCloud sync of Health data. Fitness app now shows me just the one ring and it is filling up based on my “movement”, it also shows steps and distance and other info.

I just got this to work today. When I turned iCloud sync of Health data back on, I am not sure, but I think it stopped updating the Fitness app with my activity, will check more today.

Hope this helps someone.

Do medication reminders work on the Apple Watch if you don't have an iPhone?

I’m not quite sure what you’re asking. The Apple Watch requires an iPhone, period.
I've set up an Apple Watch for a family member using my iPhone through family setup. They do not have an iPhone that the Apple Watch syncs with. Some features and apps require a connected iPhone to work. I'm just wondering if the medicine reminders work in this situation.

I used to praise apple s commitment to privacy control, but it seems the new Fitness app broke their promise.

Hi, noting you tried out the new fitness app.

Have you noticed any possible setting to the app? I did not see any in Setting App.

However, the most worrying is that the Fitness app could show (access) my workout data in Garmin s Connect App.

I did authorise Heath App to connect to Garmin s Connect for accessing certain data, but I did not see any Data Connection Setting for Fitness App to connect to other apps.

In other word, Fitness App seems to be unauthorised accessing my private data (workout).

I haven't really thought of that before, but it could seem like the data in the Fitness app always reflects the Health app?

You could try this theory by remove the authorization between Garmin and Health, do some workouts, wait for a bit, and check if Fitness still are getting Garmin data.

Why on the earth there is no settings to automatically END a medication (ie: a start date and an END date)? Plenty of medications (even a simple antibiotic) have fixed cycles and must be assumed for a fixed number of days. They let you customise the colours of the pill icon but you have to manually remember when it's the day to stop taking the meds? 🙄

Am I missing something obvious or is there no way to have a medication reminder make a sound? Mine are totally silent and I’ve missed taking more than one dose this week on time because of it. My previous Pill Reminder app had several choices for the alarm sound.
