My standard procedure for entering a restaurant, public transportation or other public place is now to loudly exclaim "HEY SIRI, HANG UP"

Momentary peace and quiet achieved.

I’m really glad for them to bump up Siri’s functionality, and I hate to beat a dead horse, but I wish they would bring back Siri’s ability to search photos for objects, people, and dates. I prefer voice to manually searching.

Will Apple Watch be able to be able to answer calls with Siri? I frequently get calls while riding my bike and have to stop and take my gloves off and answer the call with a tap.

Idk about you guys but I usually just say bye and the other person hangs up and it automatically hangs up on my end and I hear the “doot doot doot.”

As soon as they mention Siri I just go blank , sorry but it's garbage and needs a great reset

On the apple tv the search is so frustrating , I have to type stuff out as the search results are utterly bizarre

Slightly related I wonder if the Shortcuts app can now finally allow the user to automatically run a complete workflow by connecting to e.g. a known (earlier connected) bluetooth device e.g. car or headphones without having to confirm every time first? I love using this feature with e.g. my favorite podcast app iCatcher but hate this additional step that I have to do on my phone.

personal automations cannot be run automatically in iOS15 and below for:
  • Arrive / Leave / Before I Commute
  • Email
  • Message
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
There is this workaround in the car I read but not ideal.

Apparently Siri is getting several new capabilities with iOS 16. I hope Mac rumors will do an article on what all Siri can do in iOS 16. As for what I want her to do, I want her to be able to search my photos so that I don’t have to do it manually, and I want her to tell what the pollen count and type is upon request. I think that will just about finally take care of what I need from Siri.

Do kids even know what “hang up” means in an age of smart phones and no home phone? This seems like a gen X feature.

You don't have to know the origin to know how it works. Words transcend their origins all the time.
