It can definitely come on a Thursday or a Friday. The normal constraints (not wanting a flaky beta in the public’s hands over a weekend) would not apply for a public release.
What’s interesting is the fact that both iOS / iPadOS and MacOS are getting the third release candidate treatment. That suggests that the issue is with a feature or code shared between these platforms.
My money is on a zero day. Something that impacts the kernel.

At this point, ANYTHING is possible!
It seems RC3 is only for MacOS as I don't see any RC3 for iOS/iPadOS.
MacOS is now the same build number as iOS so I'm guessing those technically skipped RC2 and went straight to 3.
I get what you're saying and agree but just wanted to clarify that there isn't an iOS/ipadOS RC3 available.

I do too, the beats announcement at 7 AM resembles the Jan 17 announcement perhaps.

Some of the new beats features require 16.5 so has to be today or tomorrow for release.
I do see the Beats Studio Buds + — Transparent on the Apple Store, but there was no announcement.
On Beats website, only 16.4 is required for pairing but 16.5 needed for Find My on Apple Store.
