OK. Went back and did some research. Last year, DP1 was released on Monday, June 7th. DP2 was released on June 24th and PB1 was released on June 30th.

Also found this, which validates that Apple will (and frequently does) release betas during the week of July 4th (Independence Day from Pearworld).

So I will stand by my release prediction with a bias around tomorrow and Thursday.

Going back and re-reading the iOS 15 Speculation Thread is a …. lot like reading this thread. You could cut and paste entire swaths of posts and paste them in here and no one would ever know it was from a year ago.
Love it when there's actual data. If we keep in mind that they release first public betas for a major version about a week after the dev beta, and using Gurman's first public beta prediction (week of july 11), we may speculate the beta 3 will be released the week before (July 4th), which places it about 2 weeks from now. And so the usual two weeks cycle is kept on schedule and you would be pretty right. I'm on the same boat.

Dang! We got nothing today. I was hoping all of us would get blessed today. Looks like it'll be tomorrow or on Thursday?

Also, Mark Gurman is speculating like you and me. Nice one!
When developer beta1 drops, apple employees focus a full week conducting sessions and observing WWDC. They get back to work the following week and two weeks from there is a reasonable expectation. Unless something major adds delay, I usually don't expect beta2 until three weeks.

@TheYayAreaLiving 🎗 , are you loading developer betas on your devices now?

Except that if you look at almost every other iOS version in the past 6 years it’s not 3 weeks. Last year it was 17 days. No reason to expect that it won’t be similar this year. Today is Day 15.

Dang, your explanation makes more sense than Mr. Mark Gurman's. So it’s possible we will see it next week.

Haha, no 😂 not yet. I’m just waiting for Apple to drop new beta’s now. More excited about the new features then getting bugs fixed. Just kidding! I do care about the bus being fixed too. Based on experience… 1st beta is always the longest.

I can see Apple taking a little extra time to iron out the lockscreen and spotlight bugs before seeding the next beta. Keep in mind b2 will probably be the same build as the first public beta, and some of the bugs are really in your face. Add to that the federal holiday.

It's been said a few times on here that they have a schedule for releasing betas. Regardless. Unless it's rendering the phone unusable. The lock screen has a few bugs, but it's usable which will over time get fixed but they won't change there release schedule unless it's urgent or a major bug raised its head.

"Apparently" developer beta 3 will be public beta 1 so they have time to sort a few things out. Just have to wait and see.

Did you work for Apple or a friend does?

Or is that an educated guess?
(Not trying to dig you out, just really interested if this is how Apple works)

I pick some day from today onwards. I doubt it'll be released yesterday or the day before.

"Darling its better, down where its wetter"

Sorry completely off topic, just a mild interlude from all this speculating maddness.

No I'm not mental, just the boy, AKA Pearlet, now loves Disney tracks on the HomePod, and this one from The Little Mermaid seems to make him laugh, A LOT. It's hilarious to watch. And it popped into my head when I saw your sea creature profile picture 😆😂

If I decide to go back to 15.6b2 how would I proceed? Just restore my encrypted backup with iTunes? No need for anything else?

Haha. I'm still in doubt...wait until 16b2 next week or go back to 15.6b2 now...

Anyway...Thx.

B2 might be today, or tomorrow. Hold fire on your downgrading idea.

As long as you have an encrypted back up, when you were on iOS 15.6b2 and you can download the iOS 15.6b2 IPSW file... your good to go, if thats your way. Hoping youre on a MAC use finder and hold down the option key before clicking on restore, that will let you custom select the iOS you want, so 15.6b2 IPSW or it will default to the last official release.

as information, 15.6 already has beta 3 released since last week, but it would be as easy as following the 1000 tutorials that they put out on youtube on how to go back from iOS 16 to 15 two days after launching the first beta of iOS 16 haha
in many they explain how to restore a backup of iOS 16 in 15, so no data is lost.

Cheers @Pearsey and @drak22

Just did a restore, using my encrypted 15.6b2 backup from 06/06. After restoring (15 minutes) iTunes said finished...will reboot. The an small error box appeared within iTunes. On my iphone a white screen appeared asking to swipe up to Upgrade. Weird. This procedure took another 10 minutes. After which 16.0 was still installed.

Seems the way should have been to first install 15.6b2 ipsw...the restore backup.

Ah well...it appears the Beta Gods are against me restoring so I'll hold on for 16b2. :)

so, what if you repeat the process you did, when iTunes says its finished, don't swipe up at the white screen to upgrade to ios16.

just unplug your phone.

The window you mention has only appeared when I have downgraded the version within the same system, that is, from ios 15.5 to 15.4.1 with 3utools and using the update option so as not to lose data. restoring from 0, and later restoring a backup, either from the same version of iOS or making it compatible with iOS 16, it hasn't worked out for me. I don't know at what point in the process it has failed you, but I would say that what has happened to you is not normal.
