The last 2 years it's been 2 days after the developer beta. Could be at 4pm too.
Has the initial public beta been a week after the developer & then subsequent public betas been 2 days after ? I can’t remember last week, let alone last year.
Woot found the post from iOS 15 folder where someone listed every date for every release:

They released an updated build of it and released the public beta 2 days later. That's why I got confused.

Will almost certainly not be weekly until August. DP4 will be week of 7/18.
The first public beta* may be next week though (guessing Tuesday 7/12). The only thing that makes me question that is that once the first public beta is released, subsequent public betas are typically released 2 days after the corresponding developer beta. I’m not sure they would release the first public beta one week (i.e., next week) and then release the second just a week later, a few days after the next developer beta.
Time will tell.
*I am aware of the AppleSeed public betas that have already been released. I am referring to the impending public release as “first” merely colloquially to avoid confusion and a long explanation of why it’s not really “first”.

I speculate that it would be wise to wait to the second iteration of the public beta to install it on my day-to-day phone, because I want to live on the edge.

It depends if your really need your phone to fully function all the time.
Myself, I install only betas on my secund device to start with, so I’m sure everything is working and then I can put it on my primary device.
I assume you mean for the public beta and not your wedding day.
Possibly. More likely tomorrow or Wednesday (for the beta!)

Just to be clear, I was not saying that weeklies would start with developer preview 4 only that I expected that version to land next week, i.e., about 2 weeks after DP3.
Seems weird. The betaa numbers were the same for Dev and Public in 15. And there was a PB2 already after the rerelease of DB2. Now we are on DB3 without any PB yet
Your confusion comes from the fact that you are not considering the Appleseed public betas that have already been released to a limited audience. Those are Public Betas 1, 2 and 3. If Apple follows the same numbering convention it did last year, the “official“ Public Beta will be Public Beta 4.
