Your confusion comes from the fact that you are not considering the Appleseed public betas that have already been released to a limited audience. Those are Public Betas 1, 2 and 3. If Apple follows the same numbering convention it did last year, the “official“ Public Beta will be Public Beta 4.
Thanks. I hadn't seen anything about public betas when I first checked.

Do we get beta 4 next week then ?

More than likely. They probably found and fixed a few things they wanted to get resolved before their scheduled release of the public beta. Since they had to include those changes in the public beta, they also revised them in the Developer Preview so the 2 would be in sync. I would expect DP 4 next week, likely Tuesday, and the second truly public beta 48 hours later.

I want to see a proper dynamic EQ in Apple Music. The EQ presets are, at best, crap. EQ is especially useful when listening in noisy environments like a car.

With PB dropping Monday why would you not expect Monday for the DP next week? Are you thinking that they will leave Monday open for final testing? Or are you expecting 15.6 to take the Monday window since that's still in development too? Or is it just strange that Apple released the PB Monday this week and you'd expect them to move back to a Tuesday schedule? I vaguely remember Monday historically being a beta day last year, but I could be wrong.

Just went back and looked at the release dates for the iOS 15 betas from this point forward. The cadence was:

DP/PB 4: Tues/Weds
DP/PB5: Tues/Weds
DP/PB6: Tues/Weds
DP/PB7: Weds/Weds
DP/PB8: Tues/Tues
RC: Tuesday
Release: Monday.

Based on that, feeling pretty good about next Tuesday, which has been a traditional beta release day overall (probably more than any other day of the week).

I could see 15.6 getting public release on Monday as you suggest.

Last year...

First two betas (launch and update) - Monday

2nd beta/public - Wednesday

3rd Dev/Pub - Wed/Fri

4th Dev/Pub - Tue/Wed

5th Dev/Pub - Tue/Wed

6th Dev/Pub - Tue/Wed

7th Dev/Pub - Wed/Wed

etc.

You guys have a lot more time on your hands to look this stuff up. But yeah seems logical that Tuesday would fit.

Took almost no time at all, actually!

The iOS 15 data is all in this post: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/ios-15-speculation-thread.2288904/?post=29701538#post-29701538

And for iOS 16, we've put it all in this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...timeline.2347580/?post=31171177#post-31171177

All just so we can answer questions like yours without needing to do hours of research!

Glad you were able to do it for me so I could to more important things. Thanks! :)

Edit... - my original response came off a bit too snarky.

Really what I mean to say is that while that might not be much time for you, for someone who's not on this site every day or doesn't closely follow the beta cycle that much it's really actually quite a lot of time to invest. Even if it's just a few minutes. To me the beta cycle isn't THAT important.

The original question was really why exclude Monday when I had in my head that Apple had done Monday releases in the past and you found data to prove that my memory was incorrect and really that deserves an honest thank you rather than a snarky response.

So I apologize. (Also left the original response visible because I want to own up to my mistake and not hide from it).

I did not take it as snarky. No apologies needed!

Regarding your memory: that’s exactly why we’ve created these timelines. It’s amazing how fast memories are “corrupted”. In this thread and in the corresponding iOS 15 speculation thread, we’ve had pages and pages of people insisting things occurred on a given date or time only to be shown to be incorrect.

Not that anyone is trying to show these posters up; its just that its frustrating to have people posting stuff that demonstrably is not accurate and asserting that it is 100% accurate (thus differentiating those posts from yours, which was questioning, not assertive), leading to disagreements. But the “demonstrating” part was hard until we started consolidating this information in easily referenced form.
