Uff. This is really going to be strange now. I really had expected this comes at least to former „older“ devices, if not to the minis then at least to the bigger phones.
Yea... I'll have to see when I get home if it's enabled for my XR... I really do hope.

I think this will be the last beta. Very likely that the GM released after the event is just this build with the beta bits removed. We’ll see

Probably 16.1 for the M1 and 16 for the other iPads.
I didn’t wait until it was finished. When I seen the update it only stated iPadOS 16.0, but once finished.. it was in the About Section.

How much would anyone like to guess that the only iPadOS delay is for the M1?
Not entirely sure about that. But I’m trying to understand what this mean.

The big update this time out is the ability to resurface the Stage Manager side rail with a gesture while the feature is full screen.
Apple couldn’t implement this on iPadOS 16.0 while currently in beta.

Mind you, the blurb from Apple, doesn’t say delay. It says that they can deliver iPadOS on its own schedule. Which leads to confirmation that Apple will not always deliver iOS and iPadOS at same time. Like how MacOS isn’t released same time.

For anyone doubting that the non-M1 iPads are getting a 16.0 beta today, this is from my 2018 11” IPP just moments ago as I started updating:

I saw this also on my iPad mini but after you update and go into Settings-->About, it will show it is 16.1.

And just to add a bit more detail: every iPadOS IPSW for the latest beta is the same 16.1 build (16B5027f).

The beta version description string for iOS/iPadOS beta updates in Software Update has been broken since at least beta 3 (they all just say "16.0"), so I wouldn't pay too much attention to that.

I was just about to come post that as saw it myself. So, the theory that non-M1 iPads are going to get a 16.0 is not really supported by anything. Unless someone has the build installed & in Settings -> General -> About shows it as 16.0 on a non-M1 iPad.
