Yea, it was so much better that PB2, besides the battery life and heating issues. PB3 definitely takes the win for best beta so far, though. I'll update to PB5 whenever I get home.
Man, PB2 was a mess.
(PB2 = DB4 and so on)
I started with PB3, can’t say anything about the two versions before.
PB3 had some animation issues, these were nearly all fixed with PB4.
Any guesses on what the final build number will be? I’m guessing iOS 16.0 will be build 20A54.
You dropped the wrong numbers in the sequence from beta to public. B7 is 20A5356a so already ahead of "54". I'll guess public will be RC+1, so looking at 20A57+.
I think we are on the RC now. I’d like to get another build in, obvs, but with beta 7 finishing well on an “a” build too, seems like everything is buttoned up to their liking for now.

Probably on September 7th, 2022 after the Apple event is over.
There is no GM build anymore old timer.
That terminology got replaced by Release Candidate a while back 😉
The RC will be released on the day of the event, in the Dev portal, which is pimped out at 7th Sept, potentially.
I've noticed that my "other storage" has gone up from around 20GB to 40GB while using the Public Betas (13 Pro Max). Should this drop again when the RC (without the feedback app) is released or does it need a clean install? I'm not running out of space, it just bothers my organised personality to have 20GB of unnecessary crap on my phone!
It should. All the logs and other diagnostic stuff will come off then. But some of that may just be misreported, too. Hopefully that comes off also.
They are only dropping the ONE number after the capital letter, so in most cases it is a "5".
If the then following number is "0", then the final build is two digits long after the letter (i.e. 20B5027f would become 20B27).
If the then following number is not "0", then the final build is three digits long (in our case: 20A5356a would become 20A356).
Look back at iOS 15: Last beta was 19A5340a, final was 19A344 - so 4 builds newer and without the beta-letter at the end and without the "5" after the capital letter,
Long story short: Removing the letter at the end and the first number after the capital letter gets you the final build number format

Ah right, you're correct. Was just used to seeing 2 numbers for a while now.
In case anyone has been waiting, developer MacOS 13 b6 is now released. Build is 22A5331f, so following iPadOS for a 16.1 launch in October.
Yeah of course you will. You get the same as the Developer builds from here on in. You just didn’t get the first 4 builds so it was stable enough for a public release beta 1.

So, what happens to the people who downloaded iPad OS 16.0 on their devices? Are they being forced to update to 16.1 now?
