Just installed iOS 17.1.1 on my iPhone 15 Pro. If you note, this update was specifically meant to prevent the following:

  • In rare circumstances, Apple Pay and other NFC features may become unavailable on iPhone 15 models after wireless charging in certain cars
Apple Pay and wireless charging was previously working fine on my iPhone. But after installing the update, now it is broken.

Following the update, it went to a white "Attempting data recovery" screen for 15 or 20 minutes. And after completing, it alerted me that "Your iPhone is currently unable to use Apple Pay." I have tried contacting Apple Support and they have been useless so far.

Anyone else experience this? Its seems the update that was supposed to prevent a certain issue actually caused it instead.

Wipe it and see if that fixes the problem, if not get Apple to replace it.

These recent updates have been pretty buggy, so I wouldn’t be surprised. 17.1.1 killed wireless charging for some GM car owners. Wait for 17.2.

Same thing happened to me. I did a cold boot, came back up with everything working as it should.

I am running into NFC issues during payments using Apple wallet since 17.1.1 on my 15 Pro Max.
Today the app even froze and showed blank screen while trying to make a payment.

I rebooted the phone several times, issue remains... I walked into a store from local provider (Telstra) here in Australia and was informed several customers had already complained...

Any one know if Apple is aware of the issue?
