iOS 17.3 Safari Battery Drain (iPhone 15 Pro Max)

My iPhone 15 Pro Max installed with iOS 17.3 consumes quite a lot of battery as soon as I use Safari.
The iPhone also gets warmer underneath the cameras and you can see and notice how the battery drains faster.

What exactly could this be?
I have emptied the Safari cache and removed everything, all my bookmarks, restarted the device and it still gets very warm ONLY when browsing Safari.

But if I watch a YouTube video in Safari, for example, the battery lasts longer.

Can someone please help me?

Interesting case.
So if you use other apps that use the network the device doesn't get hot then I take it?
Are you using VPN? Got any extensions in Safari och maybe ad-blockers?
Hows other browsers doing (download firefox or brave and test).
Are you syncing safari activity to other i-devices or macs?

No VPN or adblocker so far or any other extension.
When using Chrome also a bit „warmer“

Before 17.3 I had no issues and when browsing the phone was really cool. How is your @Reverend Benny iPhone running when browsing? Warm or cool?

Its all good on my 13 pro. Same as always.
But there are some other threads with post with similar issues that you have. Maybe its an iPhone 15 specific bug that causes that.
Its a longshot but does it makes a difference when using Safari over cellular than over Wifi?
Does it consume battery and get hot if you just start the app with a blank page and let it sit there?

It’s of course draining more battery and getting warmer over Cellular.
On WiFi it’s better.

Its not certain that it's draining more battery and getting warmer over cellular if you have a network issue, that's why I recommended that you checked both connections.
Routers today have a lot of services running that can cause issues, they don't follow standards, odd setups or have bugs and in need of updates. On top of that you might have devices on your local network that you have granted access that keeps on broadcasting.

Since its isolated to Safari it sounds more like an issue with Safari or some settings there.
If you have restored from a backup and are using an old configuration give it might be a good idea to reset the settings in Safari.

Now I'm not 100% sure on how you do that without reseting all setting on your phone. And if you don't wanna to that test resetting some fetures such as the experimental settings.
GO over security settings (what is allowed in Safari)
Have a look in extentions.

Can you nail it down to what websites that are causing the issue and try the "desktop version" in safari and see it its any different?
