Considering how their are architectured and data encrypted, not an easy task to be honest.
Except they already have location sharing baked in, and wait, it gets better, I can see my wife’s *devices* in find my, like her ipad and phone, and she can see mine, but we cant see eachothers airtags. The mechanisms are all already in the API *and in use*, this was an utterly absurd omission.

Currently you can add 32 airtags to your icloud account, does the shared tags count in the item total [...]
I'm seeing some articles that say the limit is 16 - sorry not finding the official documentation about it.

It's somewhat surprising there is a maximum, given that it doesn't seem *that hard* to encounter & limits sales to the top AirTag users. Is there any limit on other Find My devices?

Have to disagree on this one. Although there are both private and public APIs regarding sharing the way the encryption is handled between devices is IMHO different to iPhone — AirTag so it’s not exactly the same connection type although it uses some of the ground work.

This is the best announcement to come out of WWDC so far. Such a quality of life improvement. My wife and I have a single car so now we can both track the keys, and both of us can track both dogs if needed.

Just sent a request for this feature to apple feedback last week… 🙃

I’m like 99% sure I saw a video by Eric from ModernDayReviews/ModernDayTech/TrackThis‘N’That where he tested the maximum and it was 32. I can’t pinpoint the exact video though. He’s got a lot between those three YouTube channels. I know it was a few months ago that I saw it.

Funny though, I always thought it was 16 and was surprised when he tested up to 32.

As I was reading the article about this I was reading this on my iPhone in the grocery store parking lot waiting for my wife and looked over at the cart corral and something caught my eye a keychain with a AirTag on it. I tried to use my iPhone find my app and apparently the AirTag had a dead battery as the AirTag would not communicate with my iPhone. So I take the AirTag inside the store customer service area and turned it in. the clerk kind of questioned why I turned it in and I told her that it probably had a dead battery and put in a fresh battery would help but why would I want to be tracked to my home.

Sharing with family members and possibly with my neighbor sounds like a good idea as my wife has dementia is really appreciated.

Hey what happened to all the people saying :
"that is not possible do to limitations on the hardware"
"that is not possible due to limitations on the Bluetooth protocol and out of apples Hands"
"that would breach core security of the app"

when I asked for Apple to fix what is broken before getting me new stuff...

Well im glad they finally fixed that, so we can share a baby carriage and a car key

now fix:
  1. Siri so it understand basic tasks correct and do not write "hey Siri call Bryno " and the proceed to Call a totally other contact
  2. multiple timers
  3. fix so timer and alarm buttons are the same fracking place so when you press the middel you stop the alarm in both apps, and if you press the bottom you either snooze or repeat
  4. fix it so it don't autostart Apple Music 50%of the time when I try to continue to listen to my audiobook I have not used Apple Music since I had an iPhone 7, that is like 7 years ago - and yet it keeps on opening that app.
  5. fix it so my apple headphones that I have NEVER connected to my Mac mini on purpose don't start Apple Music on that either, but instead use the iPhone were I listen to like 2 hours of audiobooks every day and NEVER use for anything else but a call now and then... how hard is it to make machinelearning NOT open Apple Music 4 times a day.
  6. and the list goes on...
I feel like this would not have happened under Jobs, he was to much of a perfectionist

That's not how you identify a found air tag, Find my only deals with your tags

to read the NFC tag in the AirTag, you need to physically touch the tag to the top center of the back of your phone. You don't need to be in find my, or any app, It will even work with phone locked, you'll just have to unlock before you can view the web page

It will bring up a link to a web page from apple, On that page you will normally see the owners phone number, with all but the last 4 digits blanked out (4 in US, not sure about rest of world). It's not enough for someone who finds a tag to track down the owner though, unless you already know them and have their number. It's also not enough for someone to steal your keys and follow you home.

When you mark a tag as lost, you have the option of entering a message that will show up on the web page alongside your phone number.
