Hopefully they finally enact some of the Apple Music suggestions from my conversation with Tim Cook’s office.

I truly, truly hope that even just 50% of what you outlined in your excellent Medium post actually makes its way to release. Spotify is in bad shape since their latest foray into becoming TikTok, but Apple Music annoys me in all different ways!

I believe you can set individual apps to have persistent notifications on the lock screen if they don't come with that as a default. But yeah way too easy to miss notifications on iOS. Some refinement of notifications in general would be welcome. Seems they started that with 16, this would be a great time to continue.

Thanks for your reply. I have, however, tried all of these options and it remains so that I am inexplicably able to miss notifications that are only later revealed, sometimes days later, with a swipe up. That is not the lock screen. It is an unlocked screen. Puy simply, Apple deliberately broke lock screen notifications.

But this is their M.O. in recent years. Take something that works, and kill it for the sake of change. Even just having them at the bottom now makes seeing these notifications surprisingly irritating for those who use a sleeve instead of a case.

How would that work? In the App Library, each folder takes up half of the screen. Are you referring to when the folder is open, it uses mini-icons for apps in a secondary drawer? Wouldn't that require the same number of gestures to access them?
Yep sorry if I wasn’t clear! I meant keep the icons what they are now but when the folder is opened, have it display the same as the App Library folders, rather than the silly 3x3 grid - so much wasted space

Butterfly keyboard removal, the return of MagSafe, HDMI, SD card slot, iPhones gradually getting thicker and thicker every year, the reversal of the Safari tabs interface…
Obviously, Apple has a history of “our way or the highway” but to pretend that they haven’t been listening at all is ridiculous.
Even the always on display for the iPhone 14, the biggest complaint was that you couldn’t turn off the wallpaper… So they added the ability to turn off the wallpaper.
Here’s the problem… The majority of customers do not want a home screen redesign.
They don’t want to have to go through the trouble of re-learning what every single icon on the home screen is and exactly where it’s at, they just don’t.
iOS 7 happened, and at the time there were a lot of complaints that people open their phone one day, and it looked totally and completely different. Customers don’t like those kind of sudden changes, which is why the design does change, but extremely slowly.
I should have explained myself better! I was simply referring to the functionality of the folder when it is opened - having a 3x3 grid of icons on a Pro Max size screen is an incredible waste of space, the App Library style is so much better

Split screen and interactive widgets please... I think that's all I need.

Knowing Apple they will release one of these 2 features, but make it iphone 15 exclusive even though older iPhones are more than capable of handling it.

Sounds like interactive widgets are likely but spilt screen is not

I wonder what features Apple has in store for iPadOS 17... they didn't get any lockscreen changes that iOS 16 received, so I'm skeptical that it will get any new lockscreen features in iOS 17.

One Leaker says all features iOS 16 got will be on iPad OS this year

Excited for Apple Music changes. Can we please finally get the relevant architecture updates to music playback to finally bring Crossfade to iOS?

Android has had Smart Crossfade on Apple Music for some time so it's about time Apple devices got it too.
100%. Ridiculous that Apple includes this for Android but not iOS.

Hopefully they finally enact some of the Apple Music suggestions from my conversation with Tim Cook’s office.

You forgot to remind Tim about the iOS version of Apple Music still lacking the ability to cross-fade songs. Android has had this feature baked in their Apple Music app for at least 3 years already.

And it stands to reason that Apple will continue to iterate on existing ones like stage manager and lockscreen enhancements rather than pivot to a brand new feature. That’s how Apple works. My iPhone is not going to suddenly feel like a totally different device come iOS 17, but I do expect numerous refinements here and there which add all add up to something meaningful overall.
Agree - that is the Apple way. I just find the hyperbole around all things Apple kind of amusing at times.

You're absolutely right. And even the flashlight is in the concept. I feel like a lot of the last "leaks" are inspired by this concept. Including those of "941analyst"
Certainly seems that way. Just people out there plagiarizing others thoughts to what they like change with IOS 17. That concept article link helps a lot. ;)

To be fair, the flashlight was not in it when I posted about it. The concept maker probably got inspired by this new rumor and added it. So who knows what came from what any more.

All I want from Apple Music is to be able to, from my phone, remotly play from a Mac's output. (Spotify connect-ish). This will allow me to take advantage of Apple Music High-Res Lossless. Before this happens it is just an expensive gimmick.
