I mean I'm sure the major app updates they do require new APIs, which require a software update.I am not a fan of the way Apple waits to update ** APPS ** with major iOS iterations.
Same thing with iOS and ipad os tbfI've always said this about macOS... we don't need a whole new OS every year that is really a bunch of app level changes.
Android and windows proves it wrongI mean I'm sure the major app updates they do require new APIs, which require a software update.
You mean PRO-consumer policies like not allowing side-loading? People disagree on this and the vast majority of people not on an apple website like it just the way it is right now. So the majority believe apple is making the correct decision so based on that side-loading is ant-consumer.I think that if apple tries something so sneaky they’ll incur in even more scrutiny. This is a battle they can’t win, they should just give up and focus on important things, rather than anti-consumer policies.
Or someone trying to protect their business from the mob boss that is the EU....Crazy, huh? It's the same type of behavior you'd see from a mob boss enforcing his protection racket, or a drug kingpin protecting his distribution network.
Android and Windows are also incredibly fragmented. I'd rather them keep it tight and uncomplicated.Android and windows proves it wrong
I wonder who has my best interests at heart… one profit driven company I repeatedly pay money to, or one I pay via proxy and redistribute money to its members, in essence, not for profit?Or someone trying to protect their business from the mob boss that is the EU....
I’m sure Apple will explain what they did to prevent or at least try to prevent nefarious software from using the feature to gain access to user’s iPhones if they use the feature or not.As someone situated in Europe, I hope that Apple recognise that some users do not want the ‘sideload’ functionality despite it being legislated for, and give such users a way to keep iOS/iPadOS as secure as the counterpart versions offered across the rest of the planet.
Even if disabled by default, I’m concerned that the presence of the ability alone to activate ‘sideloading’ capabilities could represent a vulnerability.
I agree. Why do we need an OS update in order to have improvements in the Wallet, iTunes or any other app for that matter. Almost the opposite of agile.I am not a fan of the way Apple waits to update ** APPS ** with major iOS iterations.
fair enough. there are pros and cons for bothAndroid and Windows are also incredibly fragmented. I'd rather them keep it tight and uncomplicated.
Make sense. Good test without giving up keys to the store.Sideloading, a Europe only feature, would be outrageous.
By Europe I hope he meant the continent and not EU-only.
I will be very surprised if Europe would allow apple to steal a set percentage of developers income even if they don’t publish on the apple App Store.
