Folks, this is nothing more than classic Apple PR. The seed controlled leaks to set a low bar, so whatever is in the next software can be touted as “game changing,” “next level,” “pro grade,” “best ever,” etc.

Unfortunately that purchase is all on you. There are numerous reviews demonstrating the capabilities of iPads and latest iPadOS version so you could have ascertained whether it was something for you, or not.
Of course is "on me"! I didn't need you to tell me that. I also had the two weeks money back policy, so it's even more "on me". I' m just telling that although it is a wonderful device, I hope there will be more stimulus to own one of those iPad Pros that are so expensive. In few worlds I'm also saying that I'm keeping it because I like it very much, but, unfortunately it is not as much as useful as a Macbook (for me, of course).

Crazy, huh? It's the same type of behavior you'd see from a mob boss enforcing his protection racket, or a drug kingpin protecting his distribution network.
Isn't what they did all this time with Lightning on iPhone ?
They even planned an iPhone 15 with Lightning before the law pass.

Finally, Gurman suggested that macOS 14 will not be a "groundbreaking or significant" update. Instead, he believes Apple is focusing on simply baking in support for features brought to its other operating systems for a consistent cross-platform experience.
I for one would be happy for the focus to be less on wiz-bang features and a greater focus on those areas not to mention for greater push to get Safari up to scratch when compared to the competition - feature complete enough that it can be a drop in replacement for Chromium for Electron developers, implementing standards such as AV1, improve the content blocking API because no matter how much effort third part developers put into it that it seems to lag behind the power and flexibility that MV2 provides to developers which allow a more consistent content blocking experience.

Please, Apple, focus on what is your product - operating system and hardware.

People want system that is stable, secure, easy to maintain and open for apps.

We don’t want lock-in, trendy features or new apps. Make sure that essential components are rock solid, impenetrable and apps created 10 years ago still work so we don’t need to pay for updates. Make creation of new apps easy so it makes space for creativity and innovation.

We already pay ******** of money for this ecosystem, we don’t need another half-assed reminders or drawing app. If you want to create apps put them paid on the App Store and check if anybody needs them.

Oh, and make Safari on par with Chrome or add new APIs so 3rd party browsers can do everything that Safari can.
Safari using webKit is years behind actually, they should allow other web engine

This is 100% EU since it's a EU law
EU policy can also apply to non-EU countries. Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein are members of the European Economic Area (EEA), but not the EU, and sign up to some EU laws. So it should proof interesting what European countries end up getting this feature.

As someone situated in Europe, I hope that Apple recognise that some users do not want the ‘sideload’ functionality despite it being legislated for, and give such users a way to keep iOS/iPadOS as secure as the counterpart versions offered across the rest of the planet.

Even if disabled by default, I’m concerned that the presence of the ability alone to activate ‘sideloading’ capabilities could represent a vulnerability.
If side loading is enabled I’d imagine it’ll work the same way as Gatekeeper does on macOS. It’ll pop up an alert.

all of Apple's OS's need a "Snow Leopard" update

I'd love the ability to change the look of the cards in wallet. My debit and credit look almost identical at a quick glance and being able to change even the color or border of one would be awesome.

Honestly for me, the ne of the best features they could make with “Find My” is to allow me to share tracking of AirTags with other people.
For example, it would be great if my wife could find that set of keys I put an airtag on. or the AppleTV remote that has an airtag on it, etc…

macOS 14 won't be a significant update, unlike the... uhh, the other versions before it which were all significant. I'll take no questions at this time, goodbye.
But they will make sure, that the OS will bog down older machines and even M1 machines to feel old.

You’re using Windows 11 as a basis for switching? They tried phased upgrades at work from 10 to 11 and had to stop at phase one because of all the issues. They’ve since rolled back almost all those computers and put an indefinite hold on it. Personally, I hate W11 and see no benefit to it over 10.
Interesting, we have rolled out Windows 11 to around 5000 HP and DELL laptops and desktops with very few issues. Sound like a bad IT department or they are pushing Windows 11 to really old hardware.

If they implement it similar to macOS, you will need to opt in and make your way through a bunch of warning messages before you can install anything not checked by Apple.
What version of macOS are you using that ever asks you to do this now?

Monterey often asks me to approve unverified publishers’ installations. It can be in a form of “Are you sure you want to run X file downloaded from the Internet” or I may need to allow the installation in Settings > Security. Also, to install anything non signed off by Apple, I needed to enable the very option in Settings > Security shortly after installing the OS.
