Honestly; so what? What *more* do you want from a home screen? Where is there room to innovate or improve? Change for the change almost never works. This isn't the "move fast and break things" of face book.

A lot more.

The statusbar still doesn’t show useful information like Android does. We still cannot place icons where we’d like, they are forced into the top left corner of the screen, which limits what wallpapers we can use, and it looks cluttered. The dock looks dated and can only hold 4 icons, the iPad dock works wonderfully well on the iPhone yet they haven’t added it. The widgets are basically large icons as they aren’t interactive. We can change the icons, but still we are forced to lose badges for doing so, and it makes you view a banner notification everytime you open an app (it’s better on the 14 pros since it’s moved into the dynamic island).

There are lots of good ideas posted I think in the iOS 17 speculation thread, and the jailbreak community has shown what can be done to improve things with a few basic tweaks over the years. I could come up with more ideas if I wasn’t so tired right now, and I’m sure with Apple’s money and talent they could come up with some good stuff I can’t even think of. I’m tired of them neglecting things that carry over from the original iPhone while they keep adding useless clutter gear after year. I don’t want anymore lame apps, or ways to share everything with the world.

You can say the same thing about your requests- why do we need a change to the look of iOS when it works well and looks great, imo. Just because you don't use this specific feature doesn't mean others won't.

BMW executive meeting: Why do we need to redesign our cars or make any improvements year after year? Our cars look and drive great!

Why do people call everything an invasion of privacy? It’s an internet-connected hardware device by Big Tech companies. It’s not like it’s mandatory to use any of them or the features they offer. You can always write your mood on a piece of paper and physical journal. Or you could keep them in your mind.
This comment was an invasion of my privacy. Help

Meanwhile the homescreen still hasn’t been changed since the iPhone came out 15 years ago.
I would not say that they have change things the home screen and home bar on the iPhone X throw iPhone 14 pro Max to where the home bar where there phone app is more rounded but if you still have a iPhone 3rd gen with Touch ID your right the home bar where your phone app has not change in 15 years lol

I’m not bothered about privacy (i don't do anything exciting enough to be worried about that!) but i don’t get how can they say it will all be kept “on your device”, when presumably you’ll have to sync it with icloud. I wouldn't want to keep a diary for years and then lose it all when my device goes kaput.
The journal does sound interesting though, and i’ll still be using it

Mood tracking... so next steps:
  • Mood sharing (oh man.... I can see various use-cases with that.... "right, dear"? 😁)
  • Mood based ML: for instance: if angry, you cannot start the car (saves some road-rage)

We are truly running out of features to add.

Can we get a friggin Weather app in CarPlay? I just bought a 2023 Telluride X-Pro and I'm very confused how a car-focused OS has no built-in Weather app. Seems like the most obvious thing in the world to include for travel.

Thank you.

Change simply for the sake of change is not a particularly useful way of living.

Of course the response you will get will be “let us put the app icons anywhere we want”.
Yes, finally a major change! 😆

People complaining about nothing changing and also... too many changes that break things. I guess it is not the right changes.

Wait until dating apps allow this info to be integrated into their platform as another metric for users to base decisions about a prospective mate on.

I will not go on a date with someone unless I see at least 3 months of mood tracker data. 🤣

It became a dirty word after 9/11

The iOS 17 update that Apple plans to announce in June will include a dedicated journaling app, reports Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The Wall Street Journal in April highlighted Apple's work on a Day One-style journaling app, but at the time, it was not clear if it would come in iOS 17.

Third-party app developers like Day One have long offered journaling platforms for the iPhone and the iPad, and based on early reports, it sounds like Apple's offering could be similar to what's possible with Day One.

Back in April when news of Apple's journaling app came out, Day One said that it is "excited" Apple will bring journaling to a wider audience, and that it plans to ensure that the Day One app "remains the very best option" for those interested in journaling. More on the journaling app can be found in Gurman's full report.
I'm very exited about this.

I have used Day One a very long time, but haven't got into their subscription model. But they are very generous to their long time customers with upgrades to the non-subscription version we bought a long time ago. But as time have passed I have been thing thinking to transfer to their subscription model. The old model is fully functional, but it doesn't get more then updates, no new additions etc.

See how Apple's Journaling App will compare to DayOne, and how and if we can transfers a LOT of info from DayOne to Apple's Journaling app - in that case it would be VERY interesting.

The mood tracking function I'm not that interested in - I have meditated a LONG time, I don't need that.
