Should also add - I don't have a problem with Apple developing things like this, I just wish they would make it a stand alone app that you can download rather than baking it into the operating system itself.

Don’t disagree. But you can offload them now.

I am all in favor of any efforts placed toward getting people to spend more time thinking, writing and connecting with their feelings - and in turn, each other - than we do today.

A journaling and mood tracking app? Yeah ok cool but what about the calculator app on ipad? what about the news app on countries other than US, UK, Australia and Canada? what about a notes app on apple watch?

I’m curious to see what this app would look like in actual use. And since it is device based will it be retroactive to things the device knows about from the past? That might make it immediately more interesting if they do the UX right.

I'd settle for just adding a feature in the Notes app to insert the current date and time.

That's it. That would be all I need to add a "journaling app" to iOS.
You can do this using a Shortcut, or there are custom keyboards in the app store that allow you to do this, but yeah, that should really be a built-in function.

Apple will add pencil support on iPhone 16
This won’t be happening. How would you charge the pencil, without either owning a compatible iPad, a separate charger, or reverting to the awkward 1st-gen Pencil method, just with USB-C? That’s just too much of a niche market for Apple to add the necessary tech to iPhone screens (which adds weight and thickness and manufacturing cost).

Meanwhile the homescreen still hasn’t been changed since the iPhone came out 15 years ago.
It has changed but it hasn’t changed much because it didn’t need to. I have used Galaxies, Nexus, and Pixels. iOS has a better Home Screen for me because while I can’t customize it endlessly it is consistent, amply customizable, and not quirky. I have used custom launchers on Android quite a bit too, they are cool, but never quite right if consistency is something you appreciate.

Will I be able to uninstall it or turn it off? This is as useless to me as screen time.

There goes a lot of apps that are about to be Sherlocked 😱

Inner Me - Luci
Reflectly
Bean Mood tracker

Etc.

Day One: I’ve decided to try journaling everyday for positive wellbeing.

Day twelve: going great! Everyday so far!

Day sixty: hi sorry, I forgot to journal. The last few weeks have been good.

Day three hundred: …

Apple on year three: *silently discontinues app for non-use.*
Me every year, but with DayOne. 😂

If it doesn’t come to Mac and only iOS it’s useless to me.
I do most of my writing and journaling on my Macs.

Just shorter notes on iOS.

Has to come out for Mac and iOS.. automatically integrate photos taken that day as well as health activity workouts…. Even maybe be able to auto add articles you have read online like “news clippings”…

If done correctly, this will kill Evernote, day one, etc…

Evernote? Is this 2016?

Notion is king now.

It’s changed quite a bit! Pretty much anything.

I just hope they will change how you move apps from screen to screen and put them into folders. It’s a dance of wiggling icons and accidental release onto whatever unintended destination.
