Ok, put it on my 'todo' list — will be asking hotels. I guess I don't pay any attention to this when I stay at hotels. Not to say others can't.I mean, ask the hotels? They hype the crap out of PPV on almost all hotel video systems.

Yeah, no. I only take the appleTV when the Kids are with us. I wouldn't watch TV in a hotel-room by myself or with my SO. I'd rather get a cheaper room without that ugly black monolith, but that's usually not an option.you guys need to upgrade from the no tell motels… I usually stay at Marriott’s and the tv’s are both decent and many of them already support the equivalent android cast technology.
It's nice when you have kids. Apart from that, probably nobody below 60.Curious... In hotel, who watches video on a TV?
So… Literally never?I miss those days when Apple would announce the next MacOS or iOS update in June, and ALL features would roll out in September or October.
Yeah, I think hotels were hoping for that revenue stream, but people at this point just want access to their own content. So not sure what hotels you guys are staying at, but i havent been in one that offered in room movie rentals in years. Usually they are smart tv's with free options for NetFlix and YouTube and other streaming options, and sometimes even for casting from an android device. This is already happening, LG is just a tad late to the party with Airplay.

Lately, I've been ignoring the in-room TV in favor of watching content on my iPad or computer. But it would be very nice to be able to use the screen for this purpose. Apple should also consider developing a more travel-friendly version of the Apple TV for those hotel TVs that do not support this.
Yup, and if rumors from the tail end of last year are to be believed, it sounds like that RCS support that was announced isn't going to be there day 1 eitherSo… Literally never?
iPhone OS 2.0 was announced in March 08, released in June, with push notifications delayed an entire year.
iPhone OS 3.0 launched in June, but MMS and tethering didn’t come until later.
iOS 4 launched for the iPhone in June, but iPads didn’t get it until November. And features originally announced for iOS 4 Like Game Center were delayed.
iOS 5 launched with iTunes match coming later.
iOS 6 launched with a disastrous Maps app. So while it didn’t really have any delayed features, did that really matter?
iOS 7 launched without iCloud Drive and a couple other missing features.
And if we want to talk about missing features, the first several versions of Mac OS X *all* had very simple missing features that would take years to be added back from OS 9.
So yeah, delays in the technology world? Nothing new. Even from Apple.
Edit: even looking all the way back in version 1.0 of the iPhones operating system, some of its most important features (besides the App Store) were added in point updates.
1.1.1 added customizable ringtones, alert sounds, the iTunes Wi-Fi music store and a double click of the home button shortcut option.
1.1.3 added movable Home Screen icons, webclips, and group SMS.
So yeah, big features not being added until a .1 or .2 and so on? Nothing new.
