There’s no ‘new look’ Siri on my 16 pro max, just the old round graphic at bottom of screen. The clean up tool in photos is the only thing I’ve noticed since the update.

I really hope this fixes the bug that causes Siri to stop working on iPhone 16. It’s been intermittent since launch. I have to keep resetting it and retraining to get it to respond to Siri or hey Siri.

Trust is a concept that makes a lot of money for Apple.

At the same time Apple takes 20.000.000.000 $ every year from Data Kraken Google …

And now they are guaranteeing Privacy again?

As you will find Partners in the terms of use, that nobody knows…

Criticizing business models like Big Data and its AI Marketing is our last resort.

But John is our Mastermind, defending Apple like their advocat, a company that does not even pay taxes like the rest of us.

Oomph.
What?

In case it's not obvious to everyone, as it wasn't to me, the AirPods Pro 2 Hearing Test on the iPhone is available in the Health app, via Browse > Hearing, then scroll down to "Get More From Health", where you should find the button "Take Hearing Test".

For me, I couldn't pass the ear fit test until I installed the Large earbuds. I'd been trying the smaller earbuds since they seemed to fit better, but using the Large earbuds showed me that I was wrong about that--they fit more snugly than the Medium, Small, and Extra Small earbuds, and music quality through the AirPods then sounded better.

After that, I couldn't complete the Hearing test since it said there was too much background noise, even though I took the test in a very quiet room. Maybe it picked up on my breathing, moving my jaw a little, a little movement of the AirPods in my ears, the sound of blood pulsing in my ears, etc., but you'd think it would account for those sounds, especially since they didn't seem very loud. I ran the test again, this time breathing as quietly as possible, not moving my jaw, etc., and though the sound of blood pulsing in my ears was as loud as during the first test, this second test completed. The results say that my left ear is 21 dBHL, and my right ear is 25 dBHL, and that both indicate little to no hearing loss, but it also said "There are certain frequencies that may be harder for you to hear". I was glad the bar graph showed almost identical lines for both ears:
JMS audiogram Oct 28 2024, taken using AirPods Pro 2 and the Health app's Hearing Test.jpg
Next I selected the initial options to try to use the AirPods as hearing aids using this test, not because I need this, but because I was curious whether this would fix my AirPods issue with none of its Noise Control options working, but no option was shown to use the AirPods as hearing aids, and instead I was shown the button to use the hearing test to turn on and adjust the Media Assist settings, so I selected this, but I didn't notice any improvement there since I've had no issues with hearing audio media sent to these AirPods using my Macbook and iPhone.

So I guess it's time to bring my AirPods to my local Apple dealer to see if they can fix my AirPods problem with Noise Control, or just swap them, though a lot of people are reporting online that getting replacement AirPods fixes this issue for only a short time.

I guess it is only in some markets?
I live in Poland, have iPhone 16 Pro and installed 18.1. No Apple Intelligence

Phone call recording will be a disaster. Anyone tells you they’re recording the call outside of a customer service call your next move is to hang up. Nothing good will come of this.
Well... now you get to be the one recording customer service. How the turns have tabled.

Upgraded my iPhone 15 pro earlier today and I haven’t seen any of these updates. There’s a new apple intelligence in my settings app which invites me to join some waitlist. Dunno.🤷‍♂️
Depends on your location and language settings.

I don’t see this option in Apple Intelligence menu. I guess apple is doing a roll out strategy based on some form of discrimination.
You're probably in or near the EU, I am like you (near, not in) and have no option.
Bar the touchup tool in Photos, this release is underwhelming......

Has anyone on a non Apple Intelligence phone managed to get call transcription working?
I can record calls but I never get the transcripts in the Notes app

I think people would have to use this feature with extreme caution. Recording calls and conversations should only be done in specific cases, such as situation you said and maybe important business meetings or other work related activities where someone is maybe giving you a set of instructions etc, and all agreed ahead that you will record for the purposes of following said instructions etc. outside of that, if people find you recording various calls, boom, if you’re doing that what else are you recording and people will be cautious around you because of that. A great feature, but only for use in specific cases and agreed beforehand.

Call recording is not available in Spain (EU) with iOS 18.1.... I don't understand this, as call recording has been legal in Spain for many years, as long as the person recording is in the conversation and without the need to notify the other party.

Is the new Siri supposed to be available in this update?
That is an excellent question. I'm actually at 18.2 developer beta and have most of the other Apple Intelligence features like Hearing Aide assist but NO New Siri. When Apple, When.

Similar issues on my side. My phone didn't even tell me I was on 18.1, it just rebooted and told me to put in my code.

I have an iPhone 16 pro, and pretty much nothing has changed other than I can now join an Apple Intelligence and Siri "waitlist".

The siri UI hasn't changed a bit. Still the swirl at the bottom - not the hue around the edge of the screen. No apple intelligence features.

I wonder if Apple will be bringing the AirPods Pro 2 Hearing Aid test and setup to macOS and/or to iPadOS.

For the intelligence features to be turned on, you don’t get it if you’re in Canada until December. Is this correct? Can I change the language to US and fake it?

Will voice dictation improve dramatically with iOS 18, in this release or future versions ? It's embarrassing how much better my work Samsung Galaxy does in comparison to my iPhone when it comes to dictating messages etc.
