Why they saying this week when it’s today? Technically it’s this week, but the wording of it could have said it releases today instead

Most releases tend to have a phased rollout so not everyone is affected if there are problems with it.

Thinking that 18.1 / Apple Intelligence is the story of the day, with HW announcements to follow later in the week 😭

Why is the new Siri glowing light being touted as a feature? If Siri is better, great. But a different animation?!

Ehhh that sounds like marketing language.
Its a feature: 18.1 puts little white mice and leprechauns behind the screen. They randomly tickle transistors and giggle to themselves and paint colours n stuff. This is progress. 18,2 will be even better still: then, when I ask Siri, it'll no longer tell me I need to unlock my iPhone first.

I have survived 60 years on this planet, many of those years were in the US military, and some of those years were as a law-enforcement officer. I have never used artificial intelligence before and somehow I magically survived. I know a lot of people are excited about AI, but mankind survived without it for so long.. I am absolutely convinced that we don’t need it now. I hope Apple has included an option to turn all of the Apple Intelligence crap off completely.

Some of us will remain on iOS 17, as bad as it is, I’ll wait until maybe January or I get a new iOS device.

Of course a few days later there will be a iOS 17.7.1 update o_O

I am not updating to 18.1 until others confirm that AI can be turned off completeLy. Beta versions don’t count.

It is - that's where my posts from Steve Troughton-Smith come from (he's in UK I think)
where did you see this?

More English-speaking regions are enabled for the 18.2 public beta, but the 18.1 RC is in the USA only.

There might be a change with 18.1 comes out later but it's a slim hope!

Siri seems to be ... the same old house with a new coat of paint, which is disappointing
