Your blaming apple for overloaded internet? Most of it does not work, good job Apple. You and Microsoft working together to release Alpha 1 editions of your new software? Image Playground? Not working. GPT? Not working, overloaded. What else…hmmmm I am sure there is more.
Apple assures the beauty of Apple Intelligence is everything to be done on-device for they are a privacy centric company.I think "Apple Intelligence" is part on device, part Apple datacenters, part ChatGPT integration.
Huh? I got a SE2 too, ie. SE2020. I thought it support iOS 17 only, not beyond.Yes it's even on my SE2.
My wife has iOS 18 on her SE 2020.Huh? I got a SE2 too, ie. SE2020. I thought it support iOS 17 only, not beyond.
How come it could support mail categorisation?
All devices that ran iOS 17 support iOS 18. Mail categorization isn’t an Apple Intelligence feature iircHuh? I got a SE2 too, ie. SE2020. I thought it support iOS 17 only, not beyond.
How come it could support mail categorisation?

Yes! If only they’d stop selling all of these internet connected devices!Your blaming apple for overloaded internet?
I am getting on IP 15.No mail categorisation for non AI capable phones?
Even macrumor and 9-5 had been fooled that mail categorisation is one of the non AI features.
Going through 3 upgrades for iOS 18, it got me a feel that Apple is deliberately confusing the customers which new features require AI!
Oh, I am wrong, macrumor as well 😅
The mail categorisation does not require AI.
Though my system lang is set to other languages, I set the mail app lang to English, and it got me the Mail categorisation.
Need more time to figure out!
Enclosed the screen capture!
Not so sure about this, updated my 13PM and it showed me the categorize view right away. As I read the article from this morning I immediately turned it bat to “list view” but at the bottom it said “categorizing”.
But whatever, wish Apple wouldn’t introduce change for change sake changes like this.
Thank you all for confirming that MR article is wrong.Yes it's even on my SE2.
Most of the features are US English only, as far as I am aware. I know that my German devices won’t be getting any Apple Intelligence features until March or April next year.MR said before the mail categorisation not requiring AI. That s why I long waited for 18.2 and installed it in a heartbeat.
Reckoned no mail categorisation after the iOS upgrade, I thought it was my lang setting limiting this feature as Apple often launch new features for US English only.
I am using a IP13.
Maybe they mistook requiring english language with AI enabled.Thank you all for confirming that MR article is wrong.
This is a feature that every time it has been talked about, hasn’t been specified wether it is AI powered or not. So glad it is on device!
Now would be nice if we had the option to sync all the read/unread mails from the non-iCloud email accounts across all of our devices.
Too bad my phone is set to my native language (Spain’s Spanish).Maybe they mistook requiring english language with AI enabled.
I‘m in the EU but have my phone set to english US for years already, the new Mail app categorization works just fine. Meanwhile my wife doesn‘t have it with her phone set to german (she switched to EN US and it showed up, until she switched back).
Changing the language wont unlock any real features (other than the new Mail app), I just prefer using my devices in english.Too bad my phone is set to my native language (Spain’s Spanish).
Mind you, I’ve thought about setting all my devices to US EN just to enable all the features that keep being restricted from us… I can’t even see my iPhone on my M4 Mac running Sequoia! All because of the language.
I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and once I updated to 18.2 I now have Mail categories. So it is working on my iPhone 14.No mail categorisation for non AI capable phones?
