Luv mail sorting it’s a game changer plus Genmoji is tons of fun and creating genmoji of friends and families is amazingly accurate. Showed yesterday a bunch of people and they were like “wow! how’d you do that!”

How is it a “game changer”? It’s been available on Gmail for years, and the majority of people I know use Gmail, and via the web and/or the iPhone app. It's not a new idea, nor is it implemented any better.

Apple needs to allow custom groups in mail. Either way, I want my mail in chronological order from top to bottom, no exceptions, so it's off for me. Same with Outlook trying to sort email on my work computer.

I noticed that it wasn’t on iPad in the beta. Some were conjecturing it was going to be in later betas on iPadOS and macOS but it never came.

I suspect based on looking at both apps over the past couple days that Mail on iPad is actually closer in codebase to macOS. Assuming that, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an additional complication with how this worked on that app vs iPhone because of some legacy features or desktop related issues. This is purely speculative on my part.

Who cares? who even uses mail? I just use it for my private gmail. That's what it is for. But if you are serious you must use Outlook, the only MS product that is rock solid :)

It’s not that big a deal to me that my iPads don’t have the same feature. However, I think that it should be done for consistency and uniformity of features between the phone and iPad.
Yeah, I really expect the feature to be delivered either on a 18.2.1/15.2.1 update or, most likely, on 18.3/15.3.

I haven’t tried the feature so I don’t know how accurate it will be (especially with languages other than English), but I’d like to give it a try, and even “train” it if I can, to see if it makes my inbox better…

But I suspect I’ll end up disabling it in fear of missing unread emails…

Just lends more credence to my opinion that Apple now develops iOS first and the Mac is an afterthought software-wise.

Yes iOS is based on macOS but at this point you might as well point out that Windows is based on DOS. It’s so long in the past it’s not relevant anymore.

Even stranger considering it works on old iPhone hardware that isn't listed as AI compatible, eg my iPhone 12 Mini.

IOS18 has been a buggy disaster for me. Worse than any of this stuff is that IOS18 cannot download emails from IMAP email servers, completely breaking mail for millions of people. Worse still is that IOS18 has simply deleted users Notes files. I've spoken to Apple Support about both of these issues and they confirmed that they're aware of the bugs and "working on it."
