Apple is internally testing iOS 18.3.1 for iPhones, according to our website's analytics logs, which have been a consistently reliable indicator of upcoming iOS versions. The software update should be released within the next few weeks.

iOS 18.3.1 should be a minor update that addresses software bugs and/or security vulnerabilities. Apple Intelligence notification summaries for news and entertainment apps are temporarily disabled on iOS 18.3 due to issues with inaccurate summaries, but it is unclear if they will be turned back on in iOS 18.3.1, or in a later update.

We are still waiting for Apple to seed the first iOS 18.4 beta this month. That update is expected to introduce several Apple Intelligence enhancements for Siri, new emoji, the ability for EU users to set default map and translation apps, and more. Apple's website suggests that iOS 18.4 will be released in April, following beta testing.

Please do one for macOS as well. iMessage has been completely broken since updating.

Super delayed messages (iPhone, watch and iPad gets it minutes before Mac does).
Reinstalling macOS never prompts messages.app to share focus status
Even if read receipts are enabled globally, they are not turned on per conversation, even for new conversations.

apple u done goofed.

Maybe they should fix:
Messages not being deleted off the server end when u manually delete them from recently deleted. It takes up to 4days to delete on the server end. It is not doing this.
Fix the icloud storage bug where it keeps going up for no reason
Fix the iphone storage thats been messed up since 18.2.1 (many have spoken on this)

Apple, please update the music app! we are on the 18th revision of IOS. It is plain laziness and stupidity to not have a manual (10 band for example) EQ. For that matter the EQ setting should be remembered per bluetooth device, so it will work with any earbuds, speakers, car stereo, etc without having to mess with the device each time.

seriously, how much power do these devices have and music is stuck in an ipod time-warp, arguably worse. also, why not swiping motions for changing tracks while we're at it. These ridiculously easy changes would probably take less than an hour of your app engineering time....

with all the news of so many apps logging, selling, or losing or your personal data there should be a way to firewall an app from internet access. you can stop an app from accessing cellular data, but why not wifi? why does this not exist. it's particularly ironic, since we found out the chinese version of ios allow the user to do this for a while... so we know it already exists and has been tested, it doesn't even require any resources on apple's part to enable this for the rest of us.

I think Apple is more diligent in iOS updates due to the nature of Apple Intelligence. Also, I don't expect iOS 18.4 to be out until late March 2025, due to the fact it's tied to the release of the iPhone SE 4 and the next iPad model(s).

They should do one for the Mac as well. Spotlight is so ****ed after reindexing. The applications won't show up unless you open the application folder first in Finder.

I've been dying to have this feature for years! My alternative is to first turn off cellular data for the apps that I don't want to have internet access and then create separate Shortcuts for each of those apps (which I add to the Home Screen and then remove the original app from the Home Screen) that (1) turns off Wi-Fi, (2) waits a couple seconds, and then opens the app. ... But obviously that's a nuisance and simply being able to disable Wi-Fi access on a per app basis would be ideal, and I don't know why Apple doesn't add that feature.

I’m curious why Apple Intelligence is still in beta.

Co-pilot is now fully functional and no longer in beta.
Chat GPT is no longer in beta — and iOS even heavily relies on it for its AI features.
Galaxy AI is way ahead of Apple Intelligence.

How do other companies manage to release AI features first, and yet, have better implementations than Apple?

Tim Cook has been failing at this assistant/AI thing since 2011. It’s 2025… Maybe time to retire and find someone who can manage Apple in other areas besides, “wringing a damp towel to squeeze the water out,” of what once was a soaked towel. The guy clearly doesn’t understand that he needs to clean house from the ground up within the team that manages Siri. Apple took the lazy way out and intergrated ChatGPT to bail Siri out when it doesn’t know something. That isn’t true AI. True AI is built from the ground up by Apple’s engineers and can handle difficult tasks without relying on a backup system.

Copilot was in beta more than the time that Apple intelligence was in beta.

You’ve been around here long enough to know that Tim Cook will leave on his good time. Irrespective of your view on his job performance.

Carry on.

Dont know about this. I would update because of the vulnerabilities that are patched. But that’s me.
The only thing I am vulnerable to are updates that have added NO discernible new features and made my phone worse in the process

My 15pm has been made better by the updates. As in all things Apple, ymmv.

Not sure what phone you have, but it must be the oldest supported model on iOS 18.

Ever since I updated to 18.3 I've had this bug with carplay where trying to play any music via the carplay interface, or asking Siri to play music results in this screen and no music, I have to select music on the phone in advance before setting off. Hoping 18.3.1 fixes this.
