Or maybe, Apple tested the Apple Intelligence features on an almost 3 and a half year old phone and determined the performance wasn’t good enough to offer the Apple Intelligence features.

Given they’re not offering it to iPhone 15 users either, I suspect it’s much more likely that it isn’t a good experience with the limited RAM in your phone from 2021, rather than a conspiracy to make you upgrade.

My point is that I am literally using the same feature and I know for a fact the performance is fine. This is one of the cases where we have actual proof that it’s simply a choice to withhold a feature. We know for a fact that the hardware can do it just fine because I am doing it, have been doing it before they even announced their version of it. It even uses the same APIs.

I wish there was a way to download just the security updates without Apple Intelligence.
Could it be Apple are forcing it on it's customers due to low numbers turning it on in 18.2?

Great.

Some attempts to fix the hot mess that is AI, a product that cannot be fixed due to it's very nature.

And some virtue signalling propaganda wallpaper from a hypocritical trillion dollar company that used slaves to make its products in the past.

Whooo hooo. Aren't we lucky.
You're not wrong...but you're farting in the elevator.

I'm enjoying the kick up the backside the whole American AI industry is getting after yesterday's developments. It will be interesting to see if the Chinese can catch up and produce AI chips to go head to head with Nvidia. Added to which Microsoft wanted to sneakily charge an extra £25 for adding Copilot to 365 and not telling me! Not so fast Microsoft - I see your investment but see these guys over here who are not plunging $500 billion into AI?

Do they now allow you to turn off the Summarize line on individual emails?

What an absolute disaster of a launch! As a UK user, I still don’t have access to full AI functionality despite spending a fortune on the new MacBook Pro and iPhone 16 Pro. It’s beyond frustrating that I’m expected to manually download 'Apple Intelligence' components—are we in 2005? To top it off, the download has been stuck at '100% complete' for an entire day. What on earth has happened to Apple?

It’s the same with Siri voices - if you choose one of the four available British voices and then change your mind and choose another, you still need to download it.

I could understand it if we were in the days of 4GB iPhones but we’re not 🤷🏽

What bits are you missing? I think UK has all the Ai rubbish on Macs now.

Something rotten in Apple, I installed 15.3, ran the latest version of superduper onto a blank formatted samsung t7 drive. Worked fine EXCEPT I tried to reboot off of the external drive and I got a shutdown on my machine M1 studio. Almost didn't want to reboot off of the internal drive. Log looks like a non copied library. So be careful of this update.
Some samsung drives have problems as boot discs

I will still turn it off, sorry AI is completely useless for me.
I don't like the idea that it is enabled by default on the latest update, I know it can be turned off, but as others have said it downloads code that takes space for something that some people don't want to use. What Apple should have done is put a dialogue box after update, asking if AI can be switched on.
Also, if people disable it, then the code should be deleted. I really hate this pushing that is happening to get us to use this rubbish.

I agree with the negative AI comments. It's very useful in Google, but that's all you need really. You use Google anyway, and their version is very good.
You may find it useful, but some people have no interest in it. While I don't use Google search, I read yesterday that Google shoves AI results in that, and it can't be turned off.
Another company pushing AI onto people

Here in Germany we pay way more for Apple devices and get so little compared to customers get in the US. You’d think Apple would reduce prices for devices and services, when so many things are missing.
You only have the E.U to blame for that.

All very small changes. Visual Intelligence update is good. The change to Italics text for notification summary is also nice. Will update my devices soon.

I know you can say "Siri ask ChatGBT to do this or explain that but do we think they'll allow us to directly use other apps to completely replace Siri?
I'd much rather be able to say "Hey Gemini" blah blah blah as I find Gemini to be vastly superior to any of the others out there and Chatbot Arena backs this up
I have the premium version offered free as part of my mobile network plan, it's really very good Indeed

Wanna run without solving BASIC phone functions!, such as editing a mistyped number in the dialpad. Only Apple phones are so backwarsd that cant support tha, it want to provide "smart" functions.
Evan Apple does not call its offering Ariticial Intelligence, just Apple Intelligence, because it is sooooooo bad.
if you're so unhappy with the iPhone experience and ecosystem, why are you even using it? Sure there's room for improvement but just complaining doesn't help anyone.

Just sayin'
