Because of DeepSeek? All that proved was that it could be done cheaper, quicker and with an average NVDA chip. Actually shows how far behind the US is in the AI race.

Nah I know what you’re talking about, but I’m not using that. I’m using a shortcut that prompts for what I want to ask ChatGPT, in text, then sends it and gives the response back in a text box.
It’s a slightly clunkier version of exactly the same thing. I’m sure the reason they are gating it is to reduce the load. That’s my charitable interpretation, anyway.
And yeah I agree, I’m not missing anything. I don’t actually use it that way very much because it is clunky, I just use the app directly.
Until we get the promised Siri upgrade with local context awareness and full on device processing, there’s nothing I’m missing. Maybe by the time the iPhone comes out this fall they will finally have that in beta.
I don't mind it's not Danish, I'm an English speaker myself. But one of the key features I wished for which the app exists on the MacOS but once launched it states it's not available in my region which is the Iphone Mirroring... something that would have been a huge impact on work on my end. It's all really confusing what is going on with the whole "Some have, Some don't" situation with all of this. Apple ought to have a dedicated page on this since they launched the iPhone 16 with the AI as if most of the cool stuff on it will be just that... so yeah I'd love it if they'd just finally give us some basic editing features etc.

I can't update my ipad because it need 11 GB free space. Fun fact, I'm in the EU, so AI shouldn't be available here. And if it were available, with 3gb total ram it's supposed to be incabable to run AI. So why the hell does it need this much space?!
I don't think so given the security requirements I assume that are needed to be able to do literally anything on your phone without physically unlocking it. Which is probably why Apple thinks the DMA prevents them from offering the feature - they would have to allow third parties the ability to build apps that bypass the iPhone's security, and I assume that is a complete non-starter in Cupertino.

Honestly, AI on a phone (or any portable device) is 115% absolutely nothing but pure marketing hypesyrup. It can't do anything interesting, it's not been proven how in any meaningful way it will or even can improve your daily phone experience. At this point in time it's not even a fun toy to use or that you'd want to use very often.
AI IS AN AMAZING TECHNOLOGY AND HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL ABOVE MY PAYGRADE. It will either revolutionise or destroy our society..or both.
But it absolutely definitely not even maybe should be used to sell ANYTHING. Let alone a new iPhone series that's for all purposes intent IDENTICAL to last years model.
SOMEONE really skrwd up at Apple and panicked and then promised to release something they had no idea what would be. Had they teased it at WWDC it could have been cool. But using it to release a new phone? It's actually insane.
And somehow, within the last 2-3 years, Apple has to completely and royally dropped the ball on their SW development it's becoming both undefendable and indefensible.
There has been absolutely NO CHANGE in iPhone HW Specs (to mention out loud) since the 12-series. And definitely absolutely not on the SW.
The Android Posse has absolutely caught up and most have surpassed Apple. I'd argue destroyed them.
This year's iphone release w/iOS has been apple's biggest failure in history. (The gold Apple watch may be worse, but for other reasons).
It's actually embarrassing. If Apple was a family member we'd stage an intervention.

Comparing AI to 5G or 3d TV is beyond comical. But, carry on...
See, Apple doesn't care about the crazy fringe who complains about everything and anything the company does. They cater to the masses who buy their products over and over...
Curious. You don't own any Apple products correct? I mean their software sucks, products suck and company is run so poorly, competition has lapped them according to you! Its like saying a restaurant has horrible food and service and yet still going there on a weekly basis!

I fail to see your logic. AI isn't something IPhone users are paying extra for per se. If you need or want a new iPhone you get the AI whether you use it or not. There is no opportunity to save money unless you're one of the few who buys old tech.
After updating my iPad I now have the issue I previously had on my iPhone which is slow loading and missing emoji on the emoji keyboard.

Per the support document, Apple Intelligence has to be on, so I assume it is currently blocked. In theory, the EU should be getting it in March/April.

I think Apple Intelligence is an amazing marketing success. I know people who have bought an iPhone 16 pro Max and have been thrilled with the new apple intelligence features and spread the word in other groups. This is amazing given that Apple Intelligence has not even been released in that country and language.
Too bad that the marketing team does not get even an ounce of support from the engineering team. Most of Apples AI features look like college senior projects. I feel that the real AI innovations are happening at open-ai, google gemini, anthropic (claude) and now deepseek.
I think Microsoft also has the same problem (of no internal innovation) but they have licensed open-ai technology and bundle it with Azure. Atleast, they have something innovative to sell as a result of spending a lot of money on open-ai.
It is sad to see this of a company that defined modern smartphone experience. Great marketing and loyal fans will only go so far. Please prove me wrong by releasing a mind numbingly good Siri - you have customers who will appreciate it.

I just wanted to try for fun but these settings are way too restrictive. Can't wait for iOS 18.4 with more languages supported...
