Because of DeepSeek? All that proved was that it could be done cheaper, quicker and with an average NVDA chip. Actually shows how far behind the US is in the AI race. But then yesterday it started to seem that tech companies dropping all that cash on AI wasn't so smart after all.
Respectfully, you’re not using the same feature, you’re using ChatGPT’s voice feature which is a lot simpler from the phone’s perspective.
What Apple’s feature is doing is having the phone listen to the request, process on device to determine whether Siri can answer it or not, and if it determines it can’t, anonymously send it out to ChatGPT. Which requires significantly more processing power than ChatGPT’s feature that opens a connection to ChatGPT servers, sends your requests, then does all the processing on their servers.
Again, if Apple was restricting the feature to get people to upgrade they would have either not had it work with the 15 Pros, or would have it it work with all the 15 phones. The fact that it is enabled for the 15 pros that have 8GB of RAM and doesn’t work with the regular 15s, that have 6GB of RAM strongly suggests the issue is the chip in the phone.
Edit: I’ll add you’re also not missing anything. At least at this point, using ChatGPT via a shortcut or the action button is going to be significantly more reliable.
I don't mind it's not Danish, I'm an English speaker myself. But one of the key features I wished for which the app exists on the MacOS but once launched it states it's not available in my region which is the Iphone Mirroring... something that would have been a huge impact on work on my end. It's all really confusing what is going on with the whole "Some have, Some don't" situation with all of this. Apple ought to have a dedicated page on this since they launched the iPhone 16 with the AI as if most of the cool stuff on it will be just that... so yeah I'd love it if they'd just finally give us some basic editing features etc.18.4, which should be out this spring. I believe it already available on the Mac in the EU as MacOS is not a gatekeeper under the DMA.
That said, I suspect Danish is not a supported language at this point.
iPhone mirroring is definitely not coming because of the DMA.I don't mind it's not Danish, I'm an English speaker myself. I wonder if there is a third party app that would allow that... know of any by any chance?iPhone mirroring is definitely not coming because of the DMA.
Worse, it aids scammers! 😄Apple Intelligence is their biggest failure since...ever. Both functionally and marketing wise. It was their biggest selling point for a whole new phone series. And it practically does...more or less nothing.
I don't think so given the security requirements I assume that are needed to be able to do literally anything on your phone without physically unlocking it. Which is probably why Apple thinks the DMA prevents them from offering the feature - they would have to allow third parties the ability to build apps that bypass the iPhone's security, and I assume that is a complete non-starter in Cupertino.I wonder if there is a third party app that would allow that... know of any by any chance?
So "they"'say.AI the "Next Shiny Thing"???
Talk to any major company, AI is absolutely huge and a game changer and something they are spending tons of cash on. Not a flash in the pan....
Comparing AI to 5G or 3d TV is beyond comical. But, carry on...So "they"'say.
"They" also said 5G would operate on you from the moon with a laser robot all while streaming 8K Spotify High Fidelity straight into your corneas. And that EVERYONE would want 3D tv's and that removing the SCART plug from the phone was, and I quote directly, brave.
Honestly..or should I say actually or factually?
Honestly, AI on a phone (or any portable device) is 115% absolutely nothing but pure marketing hypesyrup. It can't do anything interesting, it's not been proven how in any meaningful way it will or even can improve your daily phone experience. At this point in time it's not even a fun toy to use or that you'd want to use very often.
AI IS AN AMAZING TECHNOLOGY AND HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL ABOVE MY PAYGRADE. It will either revolutionise or destroy our society..or both.
But it absolutely definitely not even maybe should be used to sell ANYTHING. Let alone a new iPhone series that's for all purposes intent IDENTICAL to last years model.
SOMEONE really skrwd up at Apple and panicked and then promised to release something they had no idea what would be. Had they teased it at WWDC it could have been cool. But using it to release a new phone? It's actually insane.
And somehow, within the last 2-3 years, Apple has to completely and royally dropped the ball on their SW development it's becoming both undefendable and indefensible.
There has been absolutely NO CHANGE in iPhone HW Specs (to mention out loud) since the 12-series. And definitely absolutely not on the SW.
The Android Posse has absolutely caught up and most have surpassed Apple. I'd argue destroyed them.
This year's iphone release w/iOS has been apple's biggest failure in history. (The gold Apple watch may be worse, but for other reasons).
It's actually embarrassing. If Apple was a family member we'd stage an intervention.
(Please don't hurt me, I love my 12.9 iPad Pro...)
The iPhone is comparatively nothings more than mid-tier at this point in time.
I fail to see your logic. AI isn't something IPhone users are paying extra for per se. If you need or want a new iPhone you get the AI whether you use it or not. There is no opportunity to save money unless you're one of the few who buys old tech.Artificial Intelligence remains in its infancy which is to be expected due to the complex nature of it. Having no desire to invest in implementing it until its usefulness and accuracy is improved.
There's no point in paying for subscriptions or even bothering with free versions. Little reason to buy the latest Apple hardware that supports it. Better yet, I will continue to focus on what my various Apple devices do best now.
By taking a wait and see approach there’s an opportunity to save plenty of time and money.
Who use RCS? Let's have a poll.Apple and IOS 18 are now on their 7th update and they have yet to fix the group message RCS notification bug that ignores the "Hide Alerts" function. IOS 18 is utter garbage.
That's honestly the only reason I would consider updating from 17. 😄Who use RCS? Let's have a poll.
Per the support document, Apple Intelligence has to be on, so I assume it is currently blocked. In theory, the EU should be getting it in March/April.Is Visual Intelligence blocked in the EU like the rest of the new AI features?
working before 15.2, I emailed superduper guy, he said apple isn't updating the boot cache. lovelySome samsung drives have problems as boot discs
Did you put US in Region ?Apple Intelligence still doesn't work no matter what language I put Siri and the entire iPhone.
It even goes to say "Apple Intelligence doesn't work if your iPhone is set to English USA and Siri to English USA".
I give up.
Yes, I put :Did you put US in Region ?
