Will these AI Control Center options appear even if you have AI turned off?

The "Type to Siri" is really counter-intuitive.
I tried like 10 times to "tap at the bottom of the screen" to make the field appear. Why isn't it already there ?

Type to Siri and Visual Intelligence are already in control centre on the iPhone 16e with 18.3.1.

As well as being able to be used by the action button...

Yes, in this beta the controls are available even with AI turned off. If you tap the "Visual Intelligence" button you get a screen saying "Apple Intelligence Required - Turn on Apple Intelligence to use Visual Intelligence" with a "Go to Settings" button. The Siri buttons launch Siri as you'd expect.

I'm sure Apple's working on it and it'll be released when it's ready. You need to give Apple time to innovate... like how we gave Apple time (14 years?) to release a Calculator app for the iPad
Well, if there had been a Calculator app on the iPad sooner, what reason would people have had for buying iPhones?

Too bad. But thank you for the response.

iPad Air M2 why? (I have mini 6 too)
I think it should have visual intelligence. There might be a difference between the RAM allocated with the M1/M2 chips and the A17 Pro and A18 Pro chips, you know? May not be such a bad thing to say about.

The iPad mini 6th generation doesn’t have Apple Intelligence because it uses the A15 Bionic chip. The generation that came out in October has it with the iPhone 15 Pro’s own chip a17 pro… 7th gen mini.

I don’t think it’s in iPadOS yet for visual intelligence because there aren’t any external shortcut or programmable buttons on iPads besides accessories like the action button.

Apparently they are adding a button for Visual Intelligence to Control Center; if they do that, I would be very happy to access it from there on my mini 7. But I am not getting my hopes up. 🤷‍♂️

The Apple Intelligence rollout has been quite a disaster

Bits and pieces released here and there. Not all of their current hardware or hardware that was on sale even 6 to 12 months ago supports all its features

This stinks of huge mishandling of projects related to AI.

And after they spent more than 5 years releasing devices with some of the best and efficient ML processors.

What happened?

You absolutely must have this. And YASSS, it’s finally here, my 15 pro allies! Get it now! I’ve screenshot it from my 15 pro after the second 18.4 IOS beta.

I'm frequently confused by Talk to Siri vs. Type to Siri. Why can't they just design an interface that supports either at the same time so we don't need to figure out which mode we're in?

I like Siri. I use Siri a lot. But if Siri becomes accessible only through Apple Intelligence, that’s the end. I leave Apple Intelligence firmly off on all of my systems.

Siri will continue to evolve. There is no separation between Siri and the conversational features of Apple Intelligence. They are one and the same. These are separate from the other features of Apple Intelligence, which you'll be able to toggle off.

yo.. this always happens to me. I’m definitely on beta but I don’t have this option in control center.
Missing it on my 15 Pro Max as well. Doesn’t show up in either the control center options or the action button page. Any luck with it suddenly appearing on yours?

The second iOS 18.4 beta that Apple released today adds new Apple Intelligence features to Control Center, providing some quick access options to select Apple Intelligence features.

There are dedicated Control Center buttons for activating Siri so you can speak to the personal assistant and activating Visual Intelligence, with these features joining the prior option for activating Type to Siri. Note that Type to Siri has been moved to the Apple Intelligence section instead of the Siri section.

The features are available on all iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, including the iPhone 15 Pro models and all iPhone 16 models. Visual Intelligence is new to the iPhone 15 Pro, and on the iPhone 16 models, the Control Center option for activating it is new.

Prior to now, activating Visual Intelligence could only be done with a long press on the Camera Control button. There's also now a new Action Button option that can be used for Visual Control on the iPhone 16 models and the iPhone 15 Pro models.

GAME.CHANGER. 🙄

So far I've found the AI offerings a bit lack luster, but that hasn't been a big deal for me. I can still use chatGPT and others if I want. Some things I do use got smarter like searching for photos of my dogs at the beach. Most important, I very much like using MacOS for a variety of of reasons and so I very much appreciate that the iPhone's interface is very similar and has strong integration with my MacBook. So hurry up Apple, but I'll manage in the meantime.

I hope so. I’m just not optimistic because back in October I was told not to worry because Apple Intelligence was off by default and always would be.
