iOS 18.4 broke my Face ID. I don’t think Apple test their updates anymore. And what’s the point of the beta users having the update for a month. Are they only making YouTubes and submitting issues or does Apple not care about issues?

happened to my with Sequoia 15.4 on my Mac mini M1. an app I purchased in 02/2023, deleted after few minutes and for which I asked and obtained a refund, suddenly reappeared after the update.
insane. and I always use CleanMyMac / AppCleaner to uninstall any app, so there shouldn't be leftovers...
Did you try to use the software to see if it works? Hey free apps for everyone! Thanks Apple!

Federighi’s . The gift that keeps on giving. Tim Cook’s grid of four executives approach vs Jobs grid of four products approach in a nutshell scaling brilliantly /s. Miss the era of Tevanian, Serlet, and Forstall.

Whoever is in charge of software updates needs replacing. Compared to my Android devices, iOS and MacOS has been one bin fire of frozen apps, closing apps and other issues after another.

Get your act together Apple. Not good enough for a $3 trillion business.

Basically everything that has been a major debacle for them lately can be traced back to two people: Teflon Craig and Alan "everything is floating transparent glass with no buttons" Dye.

Everyone loves Craig because he's charismatic, but for years and years everyone has said the same thing over and over with every new product release: "the hardware is great, the software holds it back and is buggy."

Well, he's in charge of all the software.

The other complaint is that the Mac interface especially just keeps getting worse and worse. And they keep releasing their "biggest redesign ever" every other year, not fixing any of the core issues, just slapping on new paint and making controls and text worse and worse. That one is on Alan Dye, he's in charge of all UI/UX.

I had a whole bunch of stuff happen to my iPhone when updating to 18.4

- 2 apps that I had years ago, installed again
- iOS automatic updates and install re enabled, when I always have it off
- Google Calendar and Contacts that I had via CalDav and CardDAV protocol, using one time password, stopped working
- 1 shortcut that's a vCARD menu contains a list item to open the Wallet app, no longer works because of some naming problem with the app

Lmao considering androids barely get updated eh I’ll take randomly deleted apps
Reappearing again over anything android.
Androids get updated frequently enough with security and minor updates more frequently than full system. Androids don't need to update as frequently, it's a stable operating system that doesn't require system updates for so many fixes like iOS does.

Plus side of not needing to send system updates as frequently as iOS is less opportunity to break the OS and introduce more bugs like Apple has had a tendency to do lately.

Do you guys also have stutters in Notification Centre when removing notifications by swiping left since the 18.4 update?

With the plethora of malfunctions and bugs in recent software updates, MacRumors is now able to spin off a new site called MacBugs and have enough material to keep both sites busy and lucrative!

Ground control to Major Tim! Are you doing any work, Tim, or just collecting your paycheck and enjoying your private jet?

Stutters? More like seizures!

Just joking, I am not, but with the way Apple works these days, I wouldn't doubt if there are users out there experiencing stutters, seizures, and even decerebrate posturing on their iPhones.

If I were the CEO, I'd be demanding results. My motto would be, "Bugs? Not on my Apple Watch!"

See what I did there?

Hasn't happened to me on any of my devices (couple of iPhones, couple of iPads, three AppleTVs, couple of MacBook Pros), all updated to the newest OS.

I also don't have all the "bugs" some are complaining about in iOS - not doubting others are seeing them, guess I'm just lucky :)

Have had Bluetooth issues since updating to 18.4, specifically when trying to connect to a HomePod Mini. The speaker will either refuse to connect or when it eventually does, music continually cuts out to the point I can't be bothered to reconnect. Didn't have this prior to 18.4. Might just be a coincidence.
Probably not a coincidence. My phone would not connect to my car via BT after 18.4. I had to unpair and re-pair my phone to get it working again. My AirPods are also having issues. I keep getting random disconnects or outright refusals to connect.

How much longer do consumers need to deal with this software department at Apple? Bug after bug, botched release one after another. From Tim Cook to software, they all need to be replaced. I haven’t heard about this issue with anyone I know who has a phone but we’ll wait and see if it grows as more people install 18.4

This opens additional questions on Apple's privacy reputation regarding data retention. A couple of years ago, fully deleted photos began repopulating albums (remember that?) This is similar and appears to have something to do with iCloud account data retention/data tracking with user specific identification tagging. It's either a significant architecture failure, or, more likely, a purposeful second tier retention of user deleted data. Either is a serious indication of a customer privacy violation.
