Apple, please skip this whole iOS 18, mark it as obsolete, and start to work over iOS 19 based on iOS 17. There is not a single release without strange bugs like these.

Almost seems like an April Fool’s joke. But is yet another bug in Apple’s code. How do these bugs make it into a *.4 point release given that it’s been several months since the initial 18.0 release, and we’re almost at WWDC!

Androids get updated frequently enough with security and minor updates more frequently than full system. Androids don't need to update as frequently, it's a stable operating system that doesn't require system updates for so many fixes like iOS does.

Plus side of not needing to send system updates as frequently as iOS is less opportunity to break the OS and introduce more bugs like Apple has had a tendency to do lately.
Android stable? Please don’t make me spit out this expensive bourbon 🤣😝

And no androids are not updated frequently. Motorola says hello.

Samsungs that aren’t galaxy s models say hello.

Sony. Redmi. The list goes on and on.

Android fans seem to overlook the fact that flagship androids are not even the bulk of Android sales therefore the majority of Android phones sold
Are in fact released are often outdated versions and often slow with updates lmao

And don’t get me started on Android tablets.

Apple has always been superior when it came to OS support

Software does have bugs and bugs do happen when code changes. Kind of the nature of the beast.

There’s no software that is 100 percent perfect lmao

Its not a bug, it's a feature.

NO ITS A BUG. The article clearly says MANY ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND ITS A BUG AND APPLE KNOWS THIS IS A BUG. If it wasn't a bug then apple wouldnt know about it and be in the process of trying to fix it with a new update

Certainly it's a bug. The phrase that peg27 is using has been quoted and reused for decades; it's a reference to "documenting tolerable bugs" and using that documentation to indicate that it's simply not going to be fixed, because "it's a feature" and working as expected... or at least that it is easily managed and not worth fixing.

The phrase is of course entirely tongue-in-cheek whenever anyone uses it today; nobody really thinks this is a feature.

What are you even talking about. There is a security update every month and I had two updates with feature enhancements on top of it, just in March
Oh wow. 1 out of every 1000 android phone got an update.

According to stats, more Android phones are running out of date Android versions aka not recently secured
Compared to the current Android versions 🤣

Meanwhile, Apple has nearly 60 percent

And unlike Android, Apple does release security updates for older versions seeing as they know many of their customers are stuck in certain versions.

Had this on my phone - it started downloading a game app I deleted a few weeks back. I just deleted it again before the download even completed.

You are looking at the lowest denominator of android - this is a reoccurring theme, you like to compare the best aspects of Apple to the worst of Android.

Android is stable, you haven't mentioned a thing that refutes this. As far as different models running android, update frequency obviously varies but that's besides the point - Android does not require updates on the same level of frequency as iOS.

I have a 7 year old galaxy s9+ that's not been updated since March 2022 and yet is still runs flawlessly on its original battery, it's less prone to bugs and crashing than my iphone 13, I can also push the galaxy further without it throttling as badly as the iphone. Absolutely nothing has slowed down on my galaxy phone, some apps run smoother and faster on it despite being an older phone.

Androids don't slow with updates anymore so than iOS.

Exactly the reason to upgrade the base storage for "free". Privacy my a..

I had a whole bunch of stuff happen to my iPhone when updating to 18.4

- 2 apps that I had years ago, installed again
- iOS automatic updates and install re enabled, when I always have it off
- Google Calendar and Contacts that I had via CalDav and CardDAV protocol, using one time password, stopped working
- 1 shortcut that's a vCARD menu contains a list item to open the Wallet app, no longer works because of some naming problem with the app
#1 and #2 happened to me as well. On top of that, my location privacy settings have been changed. It appears I’ve been automatically enrolled in location accuracy improvements and location for in-app web browsing enabled. WTF Apple???

Imagine finally being in a healthy, rewarding relationship and your phone downloads Tinder again. Try explaining that to the one you love!

My iPad, with the setting set to charge to only 80%, charged to 100% last night after updating to 18.4.

Submitted it to apple this morning.
Same happened on my iPhone 16 Pro Max after I updated it to 18.4, so in the Battery Settings I re-selected my limit of 90%. Oddly, the same thing happened with my 16 inch 2021 M1 Macbook Pro after I updated it to the release version of Sequoia 15.4, but since Macbooks and Sequoia don't have an option that allows you to set the maximum battery charge to a value below 100%, the cause seems to be with the utility AlDente, which apparently forgot my 80% setting. I re-entered 80%, and I'll see if that holds.

That’s factually untrue lmao. Even my old iPhone 11 is faster than newer budget android phones.

My iPhone 13 has no issues and runs just fine as does my 16 pro max

The majority of androids are running outdated versions. I guess when over half are running outdated versions you can claim stability 🤣😂

Androids aren’t even running the current version of Android lmao. 🤣

The lowest common denominator is the bulk of android phones.

Not good. Recent quality of the software updates have gone down. Will wait for sometime before I update my devices.

I shut down all of the apps, restarted the device and now it's back to stopping at 80%. Hope yours has been resolved as well.
