There are starting apps to have minimum iOS version upped to 18, in my case it is the Google photos app.

Anyone here still rocking 17.7.2 considering updating to 18.7.3 while it is still available and if anyone did this, are you satisfied going to 18 or was it a step in the wrong direction? Have asked the same question over in the iOS 17 subforum...

[edit] FYI: Regarding a 12 Pro.

Update: Apple is no longer allowing the iOS 18 public beta to be used to skirt the iOS 18 to ‌iOS 26‌ transition. Opting in to the iOS 18 beta no longer triggers the iOS 18.7.3 update.

I was about to start with the Beta Update loophole and now... I can't access it.

I was too slow again. :(

The reality is that that most iPhone users wouldn’t even know about the 18.7.3 unless you’re on an XR or XS . You have to have beta turned on in settings to see it. The majority of users on iOS 18 will be on 18.7.2, which is the official release.

Personally I want to delay iOS 26 up to the last point version.

I have done this as well for many, many years…. on IOS as well on MacOS…

Too often early versions had masses of bugs, security problems even once corrected former big bugs came back in new IOS UpGRADES (!) and some users lost data and photos due to software problems…

Perhaps customers should start a class action because we are allowed to choose if we take the high risk of new software or not (yet)… and apple cannot oblige us to take a risk we don’t want to take. WE purchased our apple products and apple has not the right to dictate what IOS Version we have to use…

Shame on you, apple !!!

It seems that there is a reason why apple tries to force us to upgrade on IOS 26:

only 15% of customers seem to have upgraded on 26 Version…

Now they try to „convince“ their customers with a gun at our heads…. is „godfather“ now CEO of apple…. ?
„We have a proposition that you cannot deny….“

I'd want Apple to design things to opt out of AI.

It would benefit the increased unified memory that was supposed to be used by AI.

Join the beta program and select the 18 beta channel - annoyance gone! 😁

You mean:
Did apple finally accept that „punishing“ loyal customers that buy apple products since dozens of years with security problems is the dumbest decision since many years ?

Is it now possible again to update to 1.7.3 using the 18 beta channel registration as a Backdoor ?

That would be the least they HAVE to do…
But I bet that 99,99% of the customers don’t know and stay excluded…
