The best feature for me would be toggles to turn certain features on/off. I prefer a lean mean iOS vs a bloated OS that needs 8GB RAM

Absolute truth. Every “feature” should automatically get an on/off toggle. Something as simple as having the snooze function for new alarms set to off by default is evidently a major programming obstacle.

Yeah, it’s possible only the 15 Pro/Pro Max, 16/16 Plus/16 Pro/Pro Max will be able to take advantage of next generation Siri/Apple AI in iOS 18.

Smarter Siri is not much progress. Is like “smarter rock”. A lot of efforts on the backend surely, very poor actual tangible progress for the end users as usual in Apple in this regard…

I think correcting that is the plan. To inject some AI brains into Siri which is currently an inflexible mix of machine learning and a massive pile of case statements.

I'll bet they still end up with 3 different ways to summon the camera on the lockscreen (when one is needed) and spare icons will still float away from your thumbs.

Not to mention the flashlight icon on the lock screen, just a accidental press away from turning it one.

I’ve noticed that about Alexa, too.
Makes me wonder if Siri and Alexa are now a couple. 🤣

Now if Apple announced a partnership with Neuralink so we could have brain to iphone conversations that would be a feature I would use.

Honestly, Siri is so useless that it's an embarrassment. They should just let it die and allow us to install third party voice assistants.

While I hope for something that really is groundbreaking, I suspect a handful of nice features but nothing more. Is there not a rationale to move to a 2 yearly cycle of OS refreshes so we get something really good? Guess that doesn’t sell phones and services though…

I've been saying this for years. Ever since I experienced true split screen on a phone on Android I am so disappointed in the stupid video-bubble thats always in the way on iOS. And if you tell me to "just get an iPad" I'll give you a wedgie!!

It really is frustrating that Apple is so stubborn and doesn't give us simple features like these just because Android has them and they need to be different somehow.

That I like, but it would be nice to customise them with other shortcuts like I can on Android. Just because Apple thinks these are the best shortcuts doesn't mean I don't have better ideas.

So you would replace the F student with one of a couple of D- students? It’s not like Alexa and GA are actually good, just that Siri makes them look better than they are.

IF Apple could be an LLM interface in front of Siri and give it some flexibility in responding to ambiguity, that might be worth having. I don’t want a general answer bot but I do want a more intelligent agent to interact with more of the apps and features of my phone and my data.
