Am I the only one who’d like to be able to remove holidays I don’t celebrate so that my calendar doesn’t look like I always have something going on?

I use an app called Occasions by Hand Carved Code and only show the holidays (national and religious) and other events that I want to see.

Still sticking with fantastical for my favourite ‘feature’: being able to scroll through a list of all my upcoming events while the month view above it highlights the day as you scroll over it.

It’s so annoying that Apple’s month view shows the title of only one day, and you have to tap on another day to see that title. Scrolling is so much easier than tapping. Especially if you have a gazillion events.

Hallelujah! Apple found out how to add color back to all those little dots again, so they're not just the same single shade of gray anymore.

Apple making a move like this will definitely get them to notice.

Fantastical has been moving more and more towards business clients with their offering, in my opinion. I used them early on before they went sub.
I was fortunate enough to purchase the apps and then get grandfathered in. I get some pro features without a subscription. Its an integral part of my business life, but I don't want to add another monthly overhead to my life! So a budding alternative definitely has my interest.

I was grandfathered in as well but, how they handle things didn’t sit well with me and I deleted my account.

Yeah, if I want to have gmail calendars push instead of fetch, or have additonal custom calendar views it's $8 a month here in Canada. I didn't go for the sub but I still use it all the time.

It's looking good! I'm still using Fantastical, and until the Apple Calendar can include the month view and a FULL list of upcoming events in one screen (and in widgets), it will still be second best for me.

Wow this is the biggest update to Calender since the invention of the iPhone!

Now if only they’d make Travel Time alerts real-time and fix the calendar alert notifications altogether!

I want the ability to change default reminders app. I use things 3 and I think it’s far superior to the stock reminders app.

With this new design, do reminder sync between iPhone and Mac?

Currently, if you mark a reminder as complete on the phone it won't sync with mac and vice versa. And if you mute all reminders for an hour or day etc they'll mute on the device used but not on the other device.

How hideous! That is Microsoft-pioneered flat design. The fact that Tim Cook prefers that instead of Apple-pioneered skeuomorphic design shows how he deeply lacks taste and an understanding of user-friendliness. Such bland Microsoft-inspired flat design would've never happened if Scott Forstall was still in charge of iOS.

I got excited that some people had mentioned that Calendar5 was going over to Readdle Calendars, but then I remembered it was Riddle's email "Spark" that offered a fancy email client but that you had to unwittingly store your password with them, and they got to see all your email. It was MIIM without realising it.

So they can get lost. Going to have to find anything that does more than just one day at a time. Cal5's list was nice. I guess everything comes to an end...

I think many (most?) third-party email apps need your password rather than just providing a skin to display the mails on your phone. Including, as an example, MS Outlook.

I don't use them for that reason.

Readdle Calendars, however, uses the phone's calendars and is just a skin - they don't take your iCloud (or Google or whatever) password nor store any events on their own servers. I'm comfortable using them.

That month view on iPhone looks so, so much better and more useful. Can't wait for this.

Do reminders immediately disappear after you've checked?

In the Reminders app in iOS17, if you check a repeating reminder, it disappears and reappears as the upcoming reminder. You never get a sense of completion. Is this fixed in iOS18?

If you want to “feel the sense of completion” you need to switch to TODAY list view.

I have chores for the kids in Reminders that recur daily or weekly and if I just look at the chores list it will show the entire spread (i also broke them down into days of the week of they are only done weekly). But if I go to TODAY list I can see JUST the daily count and it will eventually just say Zero.

Maybe that will help you?

I really wish they have added Persian Calendar, just like how Mac supports
