Could be cleaner. The app folder has too many icons. My Home Screen has looked like this for the past year or so. Clean enough for you?

Actually I’d like to get rid of the phone itself entirely.Could be cleaner. The app folder has too many icons.
wait, how do i get mine to look like this????The expand part is strange. So in the end, what I have now, stock, is still better. Still a move in the right direction.
I wish I could edit app names. I have a folder with a bunch of smart home apps and the icons are pretty much all a house within a rounded square and some variation of "home", "smart" in it. I wish I could call them "temperature sensors", "lights", "security cam", "solar", "vacuum", etc.
Yes, but unfortunately, the Home Screen looks even uglier in Large mode since all the apps are blown up in size. Why, Apple??? Ugly.
Is this a per-page setting or does it affect all app icons on all pages?
My first two pages of icons would look great with this enabled. My third page is less-used apps and I'd probably need to keep the names on those.
I mean, they could have let us make the icons smaller, so we can fit more on a row AND remove labels, not exactly difficult I'm sure. :-/
YES. It’s beautiful!Like this?

Home screen without app names
iOS 16 gave us a new lock screen, iOS 17 should focus on the home screen. It's time to remove app names from the home screen. I really hate this unnecessary text, it clutters my home screen, looks awful and keeps me awake every night thinking just how much better my life would be if it was gone...forums.macrumors.com
Wonder if there is a way to just hide widget labels?? That would be preferable to me at least..
And some can't do that. Not everyone was born 30 years ago using these devices. These companies assumed everyone regardless of age would know what the "share" icon looked like across all apps and platforms.Do you label everything in your life? Not everything needs a label. Did you know some people can tell what it is just by looking at it? 🤯

Must be holding off for iOS19, but being able to fit more on the main screen would be wonderful. I'm with you, I don't want to have to swipe to the next home screen or search.I mean, they could have let us make the icons smaller, so we can fit more on a row AND remove labels, not exactly difficult I'm sure. :-/
Curious what you use for a launcher. I’m probably switching this year or early next year.iOS 20: resizeable icons
iOS 22: removable dock
iOS 26: adjustable grid
Basic Android launcher unlocked
Seriously, though, for some stupid reason, Android phones tend to come with a default layout that looks ugly and disproportional to me. I always install a 3rd party launcher and do all these steps to make it look right. Also, a nice icon pack
I use lawnchair. It isn't necessarily the best but it does the job for me. As with most launchers, you can export and import your setup so moving to a new device is a breezeCurious what you use for a launcher. I’m probably switching this year or early next year.
It’s the hardware more than anything else. The OS stuff will be nice but it’s too little too late for me, iOS has been boring for years now. I’ve got a 13 Pro Max so I won’t get the AI stuff either. I’m replacing its battery so we shall see how long I wait to switch over but I just don’t like Apple’s hardware and artificial feature gating. Honestly this is all table stakes stuff that should have been in iOS for years. I’d imagine (and am counting on) AI features will be copied by everyone else. And considering they will stage the rollout for that stuff to ramp slowly I don’t see it being a prime mover before next year in terms of adoption. Don’t care about emoji or any of that other messaging stuff. The photos thing is slightly compelling.I use lawnchair. It isn't necessarily the best but it does the job for me. I had iPhones and iPads before and jail broke for customization. When jail breaking got too hard, I went to Android, no regret. Have enjoyed OLED screen for years. Nevertheless, it seems like odd timing to switch now when iOS is getting exciting
