Finally seeing macOS 15.1 RC, also.. Seems like macOS always takes a bit longer.

The fact that installing an RC still includes the Feedback app always makes me think that it’s still operating on some sort of beta level, so my OCD usually forces me to wait for the official public release.
Yeah, this is curious. How exactly does this work if the ipsw is the same?

Yes, as long as there's no RC2 at some point this week, this would be what everyone else sees.
Thanks!! going out of town next week and wanted to get it installed before I leave :). Wasn't sure if the RC had all the background logging, etc the betas do.

But will it even matter? Are OpenAI’s grammar correction capabilities so much more by virtue of being “ahead”? What else besides image generation or from scratch text generation is the average user actually going to use this for?

It’s just not a great thing to be talked about how a company “possibly” is really behind the curve. Just feels like a shame, but let’s see what happens.

On any non-beta iDevice, open Safari and go here---

applefeedback://

It's always there, just never visible. You can do this on macOS, too. Even whatever the current non-beta release is.

So I installed 18.1 RC to finally try out apple intelligence yet what I was greeted with was a setting toggle to join a waitlist within the Siri and apple intelligence submenu in the settings app. I thought iOS 18.1 came with apple intelligence built in and ready to use?

You need to request (join) to activate it and then so many minutes later it's activated.

No. But think of every time they’ve been there before. Were they first to have a music player? No, but they had the best/most popular. Were they the first with a smart phone? No. And we know how that turned out.

I do think they were late to the AI game. But I don’t think that’s fatal at all. My point above is that right now so much of AI is spitballing, seeing what works and what people want. I would bet that the market uptake on AI features is less than 10% and possibly less than 5% of the addressable market.

I would not bet against Apple here at all. And that’s the point Gurman was making in his column yesterday too.

Apple Intelligence is not available to non-US regions, which means all the spelling correction AI might be off. Frustrating they haven't allowed UK English.

So when I was prompted about letting apple intelligence group my notifications I picked none. I’d like to revisit that feature now, where can I configure what type of notifications I’d like to let apple intelligence handle?

Can't say I have ever seen this before. WatchOS 11.1 RC release notes are on the Developer site, but the software itself is not available?

Have the release notes ever preceded the software before?

Or simply accept the fact that software will have bugs and, so long as the bugs don’t affect your usage, take the release and move on.

Obsessing over minor glitches is not a great way to live one’s life.
Totally agree! No obsession here, but can’t speak for others. We all have our priorities to sort out.
