iOS 18 Speculation Thread

@Nathan576, was something I said funny? These are facts. I’m saying people shouldn’t be close minded to one possibility or the other at this point, because we don’t have hard evidence in either direction. It’s premature to make fact claims about things that we lack evidence about…

I don't think iOS 18.7 would count as delayed. They didn't actually say it would be in 18.4 did they?

They didn’t say it would be in 18.4 officially, but they did say that new Siri features would be included in 18.4 on their site as I recall, and people are growing anxious waiting for it. The statement everyone’s freaking out over was a casual statement in an interview that seems to just be explaining why we haven’t already seen these features, and that it will drop later than initially planned, and that they anticipate releasing the features within the next year. That could be a later version of iOS 18 or it could be iOS 19 since we’ll still be getting iOS 18 updates until late this year and iOS 19 will only drop near the end of the year.

They have literally pulled the adverts from YouTube showing the content aware Siri, it’s not coming any time soon.

So far 18.4 has Priority Notifications, has reincorporated Notification Summaries, new Siri Shortcuts and adds a few other features as well. As to 18.5, who knows. 👍🏻

That means we shouldn't expect it until iOS 19.4 at the earliest. And if you ask me, seeing the disaster that the whole Apple AI thing is being, we won't get to see many features as they showed them at WWDC 24, if they even get to see them.
They better present something really interesting at the hardware level for the iPhone 17, because in terms of software, another year of broken promises is not economically sustainable, and even more so seeing the sales numbers of the iPhone 16 series.
I think Apple has to come out and explain what is happening with honesty and transparency, which is about time. Users deserve it, and even more so when they bought a device promoted for features that we will see if they even get them at some point in the future.

Yeah I think this is as close as it gets to confirmation that we won’t see these features during the iPhone 16 product cycle. What a shame. Hopefully by the end of the year best case scenario.
 
If any of these features were coming in iOS 18, they wouldn’t have said anything.

iOS 18.5 onwards will not have any big features. Every year these updates have very little to no new features as from Apples perspective, iOS 19 takes precedence throughout the summer period. Most of the devs will be moved to iOS 19, with some staying on 18 to fix bugs and implement minor changes.

Apple also won’t add a huge feature like Siri on screen awareness and context seeing as they’ve literally pulled adverts with the feature and issued a statement mentioning the coming year, it makes no sense at all.

It’s going to be an iOS 19.0 or iOS 19.1 feature most likely at this point. Maybe December 2025 at the earliest IMO. And they’ll mention it at WWDC in a way like… “…and later this year we plan to implement on screen awareness and context to Siri to make it more personal for you”
