Love you can finally get rid screen mirroring and do not disturb in the control panel.
Ah maybe something specific with the flash module, available on 14 PM.The flashlight controls must be hardware specific. Don't have it on my 13 PM.
What's interesting is that the brightness can be set REALLY dim, they just don't let you do it from the control center in iOS 17 and earlier. Does the new beta let you finally go really dim natively?Ah maybe something specific with the flash module, available on 14 PM.
Really nice improvement though, been wanting a softer light for years - no longer need to hold my finger over the light to reduce the output!

I have a Shortcut called "Nitelite" that turns on the flashlight super dim for walking around a pitch black room at night without disturbing anyone, for example. The "Toggle Flashlight" shortcut command has a smooth slider for brightness and you can go *REALLY* dim, even to the point that you look at the flash module and it's just glowing softly.
Nice features BUT is it just me or is the UI design all over the place and very Un-Apple like?
Yeah, Apple is bread-crumbing us. iPhone sales are tanking and Apple’s innovation has stagnated. They were caught off guard by the rise of AI. Now they are giving us the things we have been waiting for years to receive. It won’t be enough tho.The new Home Screen is indeed one of the strangest Apple designs with those tinted icons.
I was skeptical in the demo, and after trying it myself, it's awful.
Yeah that's what I mean. Even the dimmest setting from the control panel is like the Sun at night in a pitch black room. Shortcuts can make it go much dimmer.EDIT - unless by really dim you mean lower than what is available in control centre in iOS 17 and below? If so then fair enough!
Can you share your Nitelite shortcut? What's interesting is that the brightness can be set REALLY dim, they just don't let you do it from the control center in iOS 17 and earlier. Does the new beta let you finally go really dim natively?

Yes, this lowest one isn't very low. iOS 18 allows for an even dimmer light!Whilst it seems that iOS 18 gives you more granular control and a new option for the breadth of the flash, you can already increase/decrease the intensity of the flash from control centre in iOS 17 and below by pressing and holding on the flash icon which brings up 4 different levels.

Yes, natively much lower in the middle option. Your shortcut may go even lower, but this is a nice option nonetheless. What's interesting is that the brightness can be set REALLY dim, they just don't let you do it from the control center in iOS 17 and earlier. Yeah I think starting with the 14 the flashlight has a bigger depth of field. The flashlight controls must be hardware specific. Don't have it on my 13 PM.
Yeah starting with the iPhone 14. Prism flash lens. Guess this what they were waiting to make better use of it.Huh. I had no idea that the flashlight beam width could be changed in software. How is this even implemented? It's not like there's a reflector in there that can be moved.
Yup. It’s to do with adaptive flash that the 14 and beyond has.You must have missed this part of the article:
Not present. Looks like you'll need to create a shortcut for it first, and then add it to control center. Can anybody confirm if you can add *silence unknown callers* toggle to control center?
I’m right-handed but keep my phone in the left pocket and keys/knife in the right. I didn’t even realize this was a thing.I Being a left handed phone user (phone in left pocket, keys in right kind of guy)
SO ANNOYING!!Not present. Looks like you'll need to create a shortcut for it first, and then add it to control center.
