As far as I’m concerned, this is their last chance to get with the game when it comes to a voice enabled assistant. I’ve been very patient and I’ve been waiting for their offering and I believe we are about to see it.

I’m not particularly interested in generative AI. I don’t need to write emails for me. I don’t need to make pictures or PowerPoint presentations.

I want an assistant that is reliable, consistent, and functional in my day to day interactions with my phone. I want it to be able to understand two or even three steps of a task - given the tech available on competing platforms that isn’t a big stretch.

When I say it’s their last chance for me, I just mean I will begin looking more seriously at other ecosystems with other AI assistance that are better integrated into those ecosystems. I’m not fickle and I’m not going to swear off Apple products. I’m simply done waiting to be able to engage in one of these ecosystems all tied together by one voice enabled assistant - that’s all.

I’m ready to jump in with both feet. I just want to see all the offerings before I choose one. I’m fairly sure this is going to be our main offering in this particular arena - and I’m PUMPED!

Completey agreed.

We don't need parlor tricks....All we need is fulfillment of the original promise of SIRI, which would be big enough.

If they don't deliver this time, it's time for the board to make some big changes, IMO.

I want Holly. Norman’s voice, the sarcasm, the red-hot japes, the April, May, June, July and August fools. We’ve got Holly’s senile phase with Siri currently, so surely the rest must come.

Sounds like a new version of:

Good times.

What we really need the most at this point is Siri to be able to understand you the same way like chatgpt and engage in conversations to extract information like how to properly write a text message or email to someone, and yeah also work better with the calendar. Plus searching the web and reading the answers in a summarized way. Stupid Siri!!!

Yes, and I’m predicting if Siri doesn’t look as capable chatgtp, Gemini , etc…. Apple stock is going to plummet.

Underwhelming. Half the time I can’t even get Siri to listen to me. With full service and latest iPhone. Needs more than just a voice upgrade.

You won’t get a better Siri because of Apple’s privacy policy
Privacy has nothing to do with Siri not understanding basic words and being unable to set a bloody calendar event. Siri is simply poor software. Siri knows our location, if I ask for a café and it gives me one on the other side of the Earth (which it has done on several occasions over the years) it just not effective.

It's going 14 years; it's a bad product:

It doesn't even have an inbuilt way to report mistakes and obviously wrong answers, which it should have gotten in year 2. I should be able to tap a button and fill in a text box and a give permission to a human at apple to view the interaction I just had then with Siri, and have someone fix the bug. After having this situation reported many times those issues would go to the top of a queue and get fixed. No, it's just a vacuum where common sense software goes to die.

Notification: Hello Sarah. The rare painting that you wanted has suddenly been provided for sale by Jackson's estate. The heirs want to recognize your early interest and appreciation for Jackson's talent. Please note that there are a lot of buyers behind you wanting the painting. Please reply within two hours of this notification re: intent to buy. Thanks, Christie's.

Siri: You have a notification about painting contractors for estate properties. If you need your house painted, I can provide you a list of local contractors. Replying quickly may be advantageous as there are a lot of buyers interested in painting contractors.
He’s an interior decorator! Funny, his house looked like s**t

Sounds like all the new Siri we are getting is another new Siri voice just like an all the other updates that have been happening to Siri. I am putting on my prepare to be disappointed hat yet again. It’s a robot, who cares if it has a robotic voice .The last time we got only another new Siri voice I said if they did it again, I was gonna throw my iPad up against the wall. Looks like I’ll be doing that.

Unfortunately if you want to do this it will have to be in an Apple approved proprietary format. Apple still does not support the industry standard of FLAC for lossless music files. (Malicious and deliberate anti-consumer behavior on their behalf)
Huh? I have songs on my phone I purchased through iTunes yet I cannot use Siri to play them if I don’t have an internet connection. It’s nothing to do with the file format.

Literally want one feature: a better Siri which can understand words, sentences, context and remember what I said.

This happened just tonight.

Me to Siri: "show me images on the web of a globe allium"

Siri: shows me images of an alien beside a globe

I tried this five times and no matter what way I said "allium" Siri didn't understand it.

My aunt said "say allium flower"

Siri: it searched the web for the term "Alan flower"

Siri is around 14 years.

And recently a new bug with Siri means it wants to add all-day events instead of the time I give it for.

Me: "add an event in two hours... shopping"

Siri: When would you like me to set the event for?

Me: "in two hours"

Siri: When would you like me to set the event for?

GFY
Understanding speech is hard for everyone. That’s not a weakness of Siri that’s a weakness of everyone. Speech to language isn’t even something AI is getting better at. It’s not a feature of LLM.

All you're giving are excuses. Open AI understand my words much better than Siri. Siri launched on iPhone thirteen years ago and has Apple behind it. Apple make too many products and took their eye off the ball. Siri is not good software, mate. Open AI is definitely imperfect, but mops the floor with Siri and knows nothing about me.

I’d like to see an AI Fitness+ coach. Are there any rumors for that? Even better if it could tie into a calorie tracking app and give me recommendations based on that.

Only if they can monetize it. That’s the reason Siri hadn’t been fixed before, long before this. There was no money in it.
