It’s not like you have to use Google, you can switch to any provider you want. That kind of cash just to be the default seems like something it would be hard for them to walk away from
So you have to dig deep into the settings to get privacy. That doesn't sound like "it just works"

Not really, you go to Safari settings and right there, the 4th from the top is search engine, it’s about as easy as they could make it. Plus most of their users probably prefer Google anyway, could you imagine how many regular people would be like “wtf is thisss?” if they made duckduckgo or something the default? lmao

Edit: Also, there’s no true privacy on the internet, no one should really think that there is. Unless you’re using Tor or something in which case you’re probably on a watch list

There are weaknesses with all search sites/engines. A.o. Startpage and Duck struggles with delivering results from the right region as they tend to relate to wherever you enter the web by the location of your VPN exit point regardless of your local settings. Can be annoying.

There is no such thing as privacy/anonymity on the web. Even if you take rather extensive measures. "Every" site collects and provides "crums" to Google and/or whatever, more or less totally regardless of preventive measures carried out on your device.

The best thing one can do is to assume tracking and identification and avoid stuff you don't want to be assosciated with. Regardless of stance, the media picture is heavily massage before you get to it through various platforms, everything might be true (or not), but the chances are you get what's enhances your opinion or guides you in some direction someone else than you benefit from. Wherever you belong, get your info from a wider variety of sources, and not from aggregating services. Get some from outlets with a different perspective than yours.

That's pretty much valid for anything. Tech and what not.
