iOS 19 Rumored to Feature Redesigned Camera App Inspired by visionOS

If the redesign is really going to be visionOS-inspired, then iOS 19 will do stuff based on where you look, not just where you tap. Like that bubble at the bottom of the Camera app will expand when the user looks at it. And the recording options at the top will appear when you look up there.

A highly underrated feature of the AVP is immersive viewing of panoramas taken on the iPhone going back to 2011 IIRC. While panoramas are static and 2-d, it hardly matters, as they're (1) immersive; (2) you likely have many panoramas older than 10 years; and (3) 3-d doesn't matter at all for distant objects.
Can we roll back updates instead? Why does iOS 18 require more steps to do everything? Who thought that was a good idea?

There’s manual focusing? Just touch the screen on what you want the camera focus on.
At least we can get rid of the default lock screen buttons now.

I said it at the launch of AVP, the future of Apple UI’s are going to head in that direction over time.
This isn’t surprising. My guess is they will focus on the core apps first then iOS 20/21 will turn into a complete redesign to mirror visionOS.

With LiDar, even the new eye tracking feature, on top of old rumors of iOS being in a 3D space, if you can take spatial features with the new iPhone, why cant you view them.
Just make horizontal shooting the default regardless which way you hold it.

Wow. I did not realize the not off quick option was “auto” not “on”. That’s crazy and super unintuitive. That weird tray thing I have NEVER used ever (didn’t know it existed until this comment) and seems terrible. A swipe control at the top of the screen to bring up options at the bottom??? Why?
The whole point of third party apps is they provide more advanced features the built in apps lack.
That's still considered automatic focusing, DSLR and mirrorless cameras have similar features where you can specify the focus target on the touch screen. Manual focusing means the camera does nothing automatically, you have to turn the focus dial on the lens until what you want comes into focus (or use a slider in the case of a smartphone).
I mean, I just want to change the default photo size. If they give me that, I don't care what else they do with the camera app.
No. No more redesigns. They ruined the photos app, now they’ll ruin the camera app.
