No. No more redesigns. They ruined the photos app, now they’ll ruin the camera app.

I’m out. I intensely regret upgrading to ios18, I will definitely not be going to 19.

Sorry to hear that. I like the new iOS 18 Photos app a lot.

I see the Fountain of Misinformation is back with another "prediction" that's little more than a rehash of previous rumors. I figured something must be up when he slithered his way onto the MR Podcast after having disappeared for a while.

“The viewfinder takes up most of the ‘experience’ here.”

I don’t see a difference between the dimensions shown in the video, and iOS 18’s camera app.

The current Camera app’s swiping method for choosing between Video, Photo, Portrait, Pano, etc. is clumsy, but the camera app in the video doesn’t seem to entirely solve that, and seems to make most of it more clumsy, except for being able to simply tap between the two most commonly used options, Video and Photo.

Round icons are “the most significant redesign since iOS 7”? How significant would it be to tap on round icons instead of icons with rounded corners? Will it help my bank account grow at night? Or do I need a baby’s arm holding an apple for that?

I agree in a way that this may happen but don’t forget that iOS 18 was rumored to have a similar look to visionOS but that didn’t happen but there was a reason why it didn’t happen and we’re seeing it in iOS 19

The answer is the 7th Gen iPad on both counts …

this is extra proof that the iPad 7 won’t get iPadOS 19 ( which was obvious from the start) and that Apple could implement making iOS and iPadOS look a bit more like visionOS

But also if this is happening then it’s going to be a BIG SLAP IN THE FACE for iPhone X users who got the phone when it came out

Not sure whether these rumored changes will materialize. Anyway don't mind the changes and they seem quite good.

Well, iOS needs a redesign so desperately since that horrible iOS 7. But it needs a good one. I’m not sure if Apple can do it today and bring something new, enjoyable and functional. So I kinda agree with you. They better not mess with anything and just fix the horrible Photos app.

If there is one thing that I really dislike about the camera app, it is for UI that remains persistent even when you’re recording a video. If there is one thing that I really dislike about the camera app, it is the UI that remains persistent even when you’re recording a video. Even with the grid turned on I always mess up the composition of a frame because the lower forth is just dead space to me.

A camera app being translucent makes sense because the nature of the app. Translucency across Apple software is not new. Round icons are not only not need, but I don't want them.

So it looks like iOS 19 will still be flat design. What a joke! If that tasteless and clueless CEO Tim Cook hadn't fired the visionary Scott Forstall, we'd still have the most innovative and user-friendly skeuomorphic design today. But instead, we're stuck with this Microsoft-pioneered monstrosity known as flat design. Leave it to Clueless Cook to allow Apple to copy Microsoft.
You do realize that you can switch to Android right? “The icons are so tasteless and flat”. “We’re STUCK!”. No, no you aren’t. YOU decided to purchase an iOS device. If you have a problem, simply fix it instead of complain.

I did not know that! Thank you!
I somehow missed this feature as well, that saves a lot of time. Didn't notice the HEIF button to the right is a shortcut as well.

Just proves that the UI is in need of a cleanup as I honestly wouldn't have thought that would have been a shortcut button.

You should be able to move the camera buttons wherever you want.
So if you, for example, use the timer a lot, you should be able to put it where you want in in the buttons row. Not at the far end.
But...Apple always knows best...

It would be great if I could remove controls like I can in Photos. I never use Cinematic mode for instance.
