Then complain that Apple never changes anything.
I don't recall seeing anyone complain that Apple hadn't changed Photos.

The complaints aren't that Apple doesn't change things for the sake of change, people complain that new phone releases have gotten boring and operating system releases have gotten buggy

Some people want exciting new features. Others want a more polished user experience. Those are different issues and they can both be solved at the same time if Apple wants to

Redesigning default system apps isn't something I've ever seen anyone request. And the worst part is, they're being redesigned by a UI team that is nowhere near as talented as the ones who designed the apps in the first place. That's a recipe for decreased usability and stuff like this:
Really a step backwards that to jump to your oldest photos in Library you have to tap Select, then the top of the screen to jump back and then tap Cancel to get out of selection mode. And in the Hidden folder there isn’t even that option- you have scroll manually to go back in time.

I can get on board with the redesign, however I don’t see that happening until iOS20 to mark an anniversary thing.

Interface wise neumorphism is DOA... it had 3 years to become relevant and it didn't. Hope it's not the road they're taking with the design

Welcome back, OS X Mavericks' glossy Dock!

I wonder how many years until people would be comfortable with Siri listening to us 24/7. Listening to all conversations, keeping track of every song we ever hear, tracking our location. All of it. Maybe even seeing what we see. Would really change society if suddenly no one was ever truly alone with someone else. You couldn't gaslight people or take advantage of people if all their Siris will later just point out to them what happened, or maybe even interrupt the conversation and point out what is happening.

I still routinely leave my phone at home, or on days that I'm off work, I sometimes don't even pick it up for the weekends...so for me, never.

There is zero reason to be that connected.

Well there's plenty of reasons. If every child had a self aware Siri on them then child abuse would end pretty quickly. Even covert psychological abuse would end if Siri was smart enough. Asking a date to turn off their Siri would be a huge red flag.

My wife carries an a pixel and doesn't like iPhone. No siri, whoops. How about situations where phones aren't feasible or allowed? Work situations, bathroom/locker rooms, sensitive meetings, the list goes on.

Either way, I consider 24/7 active monitoring and tracking as a red flag.

So we’re once again in that state of hoping for a design overhaul that again won’t happen? Ok…

"Redesigned" is the word that strikes fear to every Apple fan's heart. The utter disaster of Apple's recent redesigns, from System Settings to Safari to Photos, is enough to make us fear them ruining the usability of yet another app we rely on
Safari design is relatively clean and useful compared to the other IOS browsers.
Photos redesign wasn’t so good but when you get rid of some options and customize it for yourself it’s ok. Don’t see any issue with system settings. That’s the same good or bad since years.

XR, XS and XS Max?
Those came out in 2018 and I am very doubtful Apple would still be supporting them.
It would be nice if it turns out to be true.

Well that was certainly a clickbait video. Fancy graphics, flashing a shot of MKBHD to get the algorithm all juicy and an ad, square bang in the middle. From an unknown source, pixelled out to nothing.

But nice if true.

I sure hope that this year there is something interesting that is not Siri or Apple Intelligence related. Especially for iPad OS. Honestly, the new UI for Siri was more useful in iOS 18 than any of the Apple Intelligence gimmicks (and that new UI should not require a 15 Pro iPhone or newer). Overall, 18 was a very boring update. I am likely a negative 50 something guy who has yet to be impressed by any of the AI stuff, including Apple's. Great, I made a drunk Santa Claus emoji and a fireworks show coming out of a coffin emoji with this Genmoji stuff, those made me laugh whether or not the people I sent them to found them funny. Image Playground would be a fun app for a little kid, whoopdydo. Make my M4 iPad Pro be able to run a few more desktop class apps since it has the power.

I wonder if MacRumors' writers ever read the articles they publish.

The redesign information is like a broken record at this point.
Siri also talking "more naturally," is also like a broken record at this point.
