Alarms would be used way more, and critical, than Launchpad.

You're hopefully awake when using Launchpad.
Less awake with glasses off fumbling around when an alarm to wake triggers.
And if you Snooze by mistake, more consequences.
Different league of interaction and outcomes.

i'm not arguing it is hard to implement.

it;s just bad usability to allow a tap to dismiss something many see as critical...

I understand. I personally like the tap to dismiss, so I would prefer to have the option of choosing one or the other.
