The upcoming iOS 26.1 update includes a small but helpful change for iPhones, and it could prevent you from running late to something important.

Specifically, when an alarm goes off in the Clock app, there is a new "slide to stop" control on the screen for turning off the alarm. On previous iOS 26 versions, there is simply a large "stop" button, which could be accidentally tapped.

The new "slide to stop" control looks very similar to the classic "slide to unlock" bar that existed on the iPhone's Lock Screen from 2007 until 2016.

Given that the iOS 26.1 Release Candidate was seeded earlier this week, Apple will likely release the update next week, on either Monday or Tuesday.

I got really excited about what this could mean and then I saw the photo. XD I do think this is a great way to turn off alarms!

This is great. Have been using it for a few days now. I had been accidentally turning off alarms when reaching for the phone since iOS 26.

Also started using an old Apple Watch for sleep, and I love that the Wakeup/Sleep alarms tap me and don't wake up my wife. This feature needs to make it to the Watch too. I don't even try to tap the watch screen... way too easy to turn off the alarm instead of snooze.

How do I hide the snooze button. I’ve NEVER needed a snooze button in my entire life.
There is a setting for that! I agree, I have never used a snooze in my life. I hate the slide to unlock on the alarms and fortunately you can turn it off. It should be off by default if you do not have snooze enabled. Ridiculous.

I can't imagine needing an alarm to wake up every morning. Happened to me only once recently in a long time and I was completely destroyed afterwards 😅

I normally have this superpower where I just wake up on my own. Need to get up at 4 AM for a flight? No problem, I’m awake before the alarm. During the week I’m up at 7 AM sharp and on weekends around 8 AM because the dog needs his morning walk.

The alarm slider used to exist in older iOS versions separate from slide to unlock itself. I think it didn't get removed until around iOS 11.
