Will this get reflected on the watch as well? I had some accidental taps registered from the sleep tracking wake-up and missed my alarm.
Oh how I hope! Bleary eyed, without my glasses, and with the coordination of a pledge at a frat party, I hit the wrong button often. Then if I actually want to snooze, I have to change the alarm time so I don't oversleep. At that point, I might as well just get up.

Thanks, that's too bad. The slide button is very welcome for snooze alarms, but for non-snooze alarms I would prefer just a tap.
Just checked, but if you use the ‘standby’ feature, and have an alarm with snooze off or on, you just tap the stop to stop.

So no sliding when snooze is on? What I would want is sliding with snooze on but no sliding with snooze off.

in a previous thread where this was announced, most were up in arms because it's an extra step to too far, but now that the spin is 'if we make it more complicated, you'll wake up in time', suddenly it's all we've been waiting for.

It's an option, simply there, for those that do want it. The entire IT world is full of options, that most of us don't use, but is there a need to use veiled sarcasm or be judgemental, no, accept what there is, and if it's not for you, move along.
This thread/article wasn't about whether you needed an alarm, or a snooze function. If you went into a bar, sat next to someone who was doing something, you didn't do, and pointed it out, what do you think might happen?
Sure options are great. Your bar analogy isn't. Are you saying if I sit next to someone who is not drinking alcohol or reading a book in a bar am I going to say something to them about it? The answer is obviously no. If my significant other set an alarm an hour early and then hit snooze for that hour until she wanted to be up, you better believe I'd say something..

I don't think the traditional "slide to xxx" went away entirely since 2016. We still had "slide to answer," "slide to power off," "(slide to show) Medical ID," and "(slide to) Emergency Call" that even have an actual slider. The traditional "slide to unlock" already went away on iOS 7, since it's not a slider, and you can slide anywhere on the screen.

Funniest thing is, if you use standby mode on the bedside table, it remains a button. So, don't charge your phone overnight using a magsafe stand and expect the slider to be there.

I am glad the option is there to turn it off though, it's annoying as heck on cooking timers. So I was very glad to see the option mentioned a few days back to revert to the nice big stop button.

(also raising my hand for having the not needing to use alarms superpower a few others mentioned)

This if good, but how about making a change for all of us who accidentally hit snooze? Now it is way too easy to just hit whatever until the alarm stops! ;)

Apple seems to have too many designers looking for something to do. 18 years down the line you'd think the software had matured, but now changes for change's sake need the constant tweaking of inane things keeping people busy.

it’s like slide to power off and slide to answer were never there!!!… seriously…
I want the option to turn the Siri button back to the power button.

At least then I could use it for something both useful and reliable.

I hope not. I work in a cold environment, with bulky double gloves on, and I have the alarm set to alert me of various times throughout the day. Right now, I can stop the alarm by bashing it with my nose (looks silly, but it works). I can’t be taking my gloves off in that environment to do a “slide” action to turn off the alarm.

I can't imagine needing an alarm to wake up every morning. Happened to me only once recently in a long time and I was completely destroyed afterwards 😅

I normally have this superpower where I just wake up on my own. Need to get up at 4 AM for a flight? No problem, I’m awake before the alarm. During the week I’m up at 7 AM sharp and on weekends around 8 AM because the dog needs his morning walk.
“Need to get up at 4 AM for a flight? No problem, I’m awake before the alarm.”

Why are you setting an alarm?

Maybe not the brick of an original. The 4 or 5 with modern guts would do numbers I feel like - and they're still old enough for them to sell on nostalgia.
From a design and technology standpoint, the 4 was probably the most groundbreaking iPhone (since the original) - display, design, overall "polishing" both physically and with the software. It's the only "old" phone I've kept because in my mind it's when the iPhone really became the iPhone and led to truly owning the market. Personally I don't think any other phone has been as much of a leap forward since, though you could make a decent argument about the X.

Still, its design been emulated so much (by Apple and others) that it doesn't really stand out now, so I'm not sure nostalgia alone would carry it that far beyond true Apple enthusiasts. Now if it had a software skin to make the software look like iOS whatever it ran, maybe they'd have something.

I'd be THRILLED if they could/would fix the bug that prevents alarms from playing through bluetooth earbuds if you sleep with them. I have to rely on a secondary method for alarms because of this bug and Apple's lack of concern for a fix.

Awesome: Settings > Accessibility > Touch and turn on the Prefer Single-Touch Actions
Thanks for this! I wonder why this option got buried in Accessibility settings instead of being offered as an option just like the Snooze button. Also, does this only apply for alarms, or what other single touch actions will get affected?

I really wish they would bring this back as an option for unlocking the screen. It’s almost too easy to unlock currently imo, and more options are nice :)
