I have had an iPhone since the original. I have never had worse network performance that I do with my 17 max pro. I don’t know if this is iOS related or what (thus my post here) but I have become so frustrated with the day to day performance both on WiFi and cellular that I’m seriously considering moving to a different platform. Am I a one off here?? Any ideas? I’ve reset network settings and all of the normal hacks. Nothing works.

Got super excited for a minute when I saw Liquid Glass toggle. I was hoping it was a toggle to turn it off completely.
Right! I was hoping for a more frosted myself. Instead it turns it to this ghastly white, high contrast option I could have gotten with accessibility. A Mac OS used to be pleasing to the eyes. This just looks cheap.

Did they include a way to NOT have Apple Music play when I get in my car? Happens with BT or USB connections. The Music app doesn't even open — phone just plays music in my playlist, starting alphabetically.

Can't believe Apple still talks about Apple Intelligence like it's something that's real. I guess they have to if they want a shot with the pending lawsuit.

This may shock you but implementing AI across 5 product lines and 2 dozen or so devices may be a process that takes a few years.

What people don't seem to understand is that Apple HAS shipped a ton of work on Apple Intelligence. The problem is almost none of it is user facing, and the stuff that is directly usable by end users is pretty lame. Now over the next few years they will build on that foundation and hopefully come up with something that's pretty good.

This may not shock you but Apple has failed for decades regarding Siri implementation across all their product lines. No once cares for their excuses. They are a 4 trillion dollar company for goodness sakes!

Nice video. Like all the changes. Will be setting Liquid Glass preference to ‘Clear’. Slide to change music is also a good change. Slide over coming back to the iPad is also very welcome. Will be updating all my devices within a few days.

The seemingly random left aligned vs. centered thing is an issue.

A few years ago they went way too far in the direction of centering things, now they’ve gone too far in the opposite direction. Windows look better with centered title text. Those icons in Settings and dialog boxes looked better centered

I don’t know why they keep changing this stuff

Incompetence under the leadership of Tim Cook! Craig Federighi should be shown the door over this ridiculous iOS.

New Slide Over can only be used in Windowed and Stage Manager modes. Kinda makes sense, but it still loses the convenience of earlier versions where you’d only need to refer to one app that’s otherwise tucked off screen.

It also still lacks the ability to create a stack of SO apps that you can swipe between, and see in the app switcher.

So, a small concession to users of the old system, but it still largely pushes you towards Windowed working. I can’t have Numbers full screen, slide over with my banking app, and my TV remote also in slide over so I can quickly change what I’m watching and go back to work.

Since upgrading the camera is being activated in the Notification Center every time I do anything on the phone. This is really annoying. Is there a way to turn it off?

Not planning to upgrade to iOS 26 until next year sometime, went to the update screen on iOS 18 and it’s still showing iOS 26 at the bottom as a optional install, there might be a few more last updates yet before they nag us with a red dot reminder.
No iOS 18.8.0 updates yet.
I told my parents to stay on iOS 18 as well. iOS 26 is not worth the battery life hit.

It just makes me wonder how much better my battery would be if the 17 didn't Liquid Glass.

The swipe gesture added to the Apple Music player would have been convenient, but swiping left to skip forward and right to skip backward is utterly illogical and counterintuitive to me. The implementation of such a simple feature should have been idiot-proof. Clearly, it wasn't.

I updated my iPhone 13 Pro Max (not Apple Intelligence compatible), and got new Siri languages. So it appears the article is not entirely correct. Apple did not update Apple Intelligence only with the new languages. Older divides also got the new languages on regular Siri. The brief test I did with it set to Portuguese (Portugal) seems fine no complains so far (apart from the usual about Siri in general)

I use slide to open camera all the time, so I'm glad they never removed it.

Digressing, but I wish Slide Over on iPadOS 26 was the same as the previous OS. I really miss it.

Okay, now wait for a new portion of bugs, then they got fixed in 26.1.1 and it's finally a time to update!

My wife and I don't have any issues with network performance. I'm getting great throughput on 5G and on Wi-Fi. Also, haven't lost connectivity during a call even once. That doesn't mean it is just you, as networking can have many factors. But, I wouldn't exclude the option of a faulty device and would try and get yours replaced.
